Priest Rahandras has lived with the darkness trapped inside himself for years. Betrayed by his own brother and forced to watch his clan's brutal annihilation, the only thing Priest wants more than to escape the curse that haunts him - as both man and beast - is to rebuild.
Until the mate he's longed for walks into his life with an elder from his past. She's everything he's wished for, and the key to the clan's very survival.
Kateri Falsen is a woman of logic and facts. While Priest's cat can sense her arousal, telling her they're fated won't be enough. He'll have to show her his love: with his words, with his actions, and with his body.
Protecting Kateri from the evil trapped inside him is paramount. But when lost clan members are systematically murdered, he'll have to choose between exposing his mate to his black magic, or risking her as the next victim.

This was a fun quick "read". I listen to this book on one sitting and I really enjoyed it.

Priest is a decades-old shifter that has been betrayed and he just wants to make things right for the clan. When an old clansmate appears with her grandchildren after the death of their parents and a vision, he will stop at nothing to protect what is his.

Kateri and her brother never knew much about their inheritance because their dad rejected his quest after all that happened many years before that caused many of the clans to lose their Primos and now they are thrown into this world with no safety net under them to cushion their hard fall.

I loved the world building and the quest the characters have to go thru to get their companions. I liked writing style and the narrator was good.

But I still felt like it all happened to quickly and Kateri and her brother accepted everything with minimal to no struggle. Also, the romance was too insta for me. Mind you it doesn't bother me if is insta-love as long as it is well written and you don't even realize that such a short time has passed.

All in all a good series and I'll definitively pick the next book on this series.

The Lion Kings

For six months, Madeline Granger has been overwhelmed by an almost magnetic pull that has kept her on the road, traveling all over the Midwest and erotically dreaming of two men… her lion kings. When she wakes up in Kansas, just outside the perimeter of a traveling carnival, it miraculously feels like coming home. But after she meets the two men who shouldn’t exist outside her own mind, it’s hard for her to reconcile that her dream lovers are two very real and sexy men, not imaginary. All she knows for certain is she wants them both.
Adam Michael’s and his brother Cage, both lion-shifters, not only run Pantheros & Co Carnival, they are the stars. Making a home for his crew of misfits and outcasts was Adam’s dream. Cage was his most desperate rescue, and after a profound loss, Adam worries that Cage’s grief will drive him toward a brutality he can’t come back from.
The last thing either lion-shifter expected was Madeline Granger. She might be the answer to Adam’s prayers, in more ways than one, if he can get Cage to look past his pain. But, can Adam and Cage see Madeline as more than a substitute Clary? And can Madeline rescue two Kings drowning in their own sorrow?
Maddie might want The Lion Kings to rule her body, but is she strong enough to rule their hearts.

The Lion Kings follows this woman named Madeline Granger who is a sort of psychic where she sees the past. She has been having dreams about this two guys Adam and Cage and has been restless for about 6 months going from town to town.

When she gets to a small town in Kansas and near the carnival, this Restless feeling she's been having goes away. And it is then she realized that the men she's been having dreams about are real.

I really liked the story and the development of the characters and the Mystery of the death of Clary. That last one had me guessing at every turn and still, I wasn't able to figure out who was responsible or why until the very end.

What I was a little bit skeptical about in this book was the connection between Clary and Madeline. More than once I thought that the brothers we're replacing Clary with Madeline.

Aside from that, it was a really fast and cute story and if you like Paranormal romance I recommend this one to you.

Sloane Garcia has butted heads with Reece Jenkins ever since he was a colossal jerk of epic proportions on a night she’d rather forget. So what if he’s overconfident, ultramasculine, and hard muscled? When she finds out he’s on the auction block at the annual firefighter’s charity event, she decides to give this cocky firefighter a dose of his own medicine. Now that she’s won the hunk, he’s on call—to do whatever Sloane wants.
Sure, Reece and Sloane had a rocky start, but he had his reasons. None of that matters now that he’s the bachelor at her beck and call, tasked with granting her four wishes in four weeks. He runs into burning buildings for a living, but nothing will be as tough as dousing the flames Sloane ignites in him. What started out as just a game might end up with Reece losing the one thing he swore he’d never give up: his heart.

This book is about Sloane; who is the best friend of Erin, the heroine from the first book; and Reece; who is Erin's brother and Jake's best friend, Jake being the hero of the fist book.

This is an enemies to lovers story. Something happened a year ago that made Sloane hate Reece.

In this book the firefighter captain has it against Reese for whatever reason, I really don't remember anything about this from the first book, and so the captain makes Reece participate in the four for four charity auction.

The person who pays the money for this firefighters have four weeks to make them do four tasks of their choice. Once Sloan sees Reece up for auction she thinks it is the best way to get revenge.

As much as I love the first book I thought I was going to love this one too and I did like it but I didn't love it as much as I did the first one. I love the banter between Sloane and Reece and some of the tasks that Sloane thought to have Reece do where hilarious.

What I found lacking was the deeper connection that the characters of the first book had. This book was more of a quick light read. This does not mean that I am going to quit reading this series. I'm looking forward for the next book.

Miss Mechanic

Two mechanics. One rivalry.
She’ll prove she’s as good as she says she is.
He’ll prove her place isn’t under the hood.
It’s over it.

“Don’t let the b*****ds get you down.”
For twenty-six years, I lived by my daddy’s motto. Which is why “Mechanic Wanted” is all it takes for me to apply for the job at the garage we once owned.
And I meet the biggest b*****d of them all.
Dexter Ryne. Hotter than Hell in July and a firm believer that my place is on reception, taking phone calls and looking pretty. Not getting dirty under the hood of a car.
Determined to prove each other wrong, we make a deal.
I have three weeks to prove my worth as a mechanic. If I don’t, I’m on telephone duty.
If I do, he’ll accept defeat and make my job permanent.
Now, all I have to do is fight my attraction to the cocky little… beep.
Problem is, an engine isn’t the only thing he knows how to make purr…

I have read Emma Hart a few times and I've loved every one of those reads. This book although a fun and sexy read for some reason I didn't love as much as her other books.

Not to say I didn't like it, I just for some reason was hung up on the fact that there were so many profanities on this read. Don't get me wrong I'm not a prude that can't handle the bad words on my reads, I just was too focused on that fact to actually enjoy the read.

It might be the fact too that I was wondering how the narrators felt about saying them so much, lol.

The story is about this woman Jamie to prove to Dexter that just because she dressed sexy and was very feminine didn't mean she couldn't do her job as a mechanic. That she could do it and do it better than him.

There were many hilarious scenes and some hot scenes too and I am pretty sure I would have enjoyed this book (even give it 4 stars) if I had read it instead of listening to it.

But lesson learned and really anything Emma Hart I recommend it if you are looking for a fun fast flirty read and don't mind the F-bomb being thrown around like it's candy.

I’ve completely had it with men. I’m done.
And in case you were wondering, book boyfriends aren’t real. I should know because I write them.
My name is Greer Hanson. I think I’ve lost my mojo. After having my heart broken, I can’t seem to write about romance or love. When my best friend and publisher recommends an inspiration vacation, I decide to give it a whirl. What’s the worst that could happen?
Enter the perfect stranger. Patrick Fisher knocks me off my feet with his rugged good looks and charm. After one night with him, the words begin to flow. Since I know I’ll never see him again, I use him as my muse. But what do I do when my fantasy comes to life and that man steps right out of the pages of my book?
Book Boyfriends can’t be real. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself. Am I willing to risk having my heart broken all over again?
Maybe this time reality will be better than fiction.

I have to say that this book almost didn't make it for me. At about 16% into the book, I was contemplating DNFing it but I always try and read 'till 25% before making that decision.

Greer Hanson is a bestselling author on vacation to find her muse back after a nasty divorce left her a broken woman. On her last day there she meets Patrick Fisher who accidentally knocked her down while on a run. He wants to make up for it and keeps trying to get her to go out with him. Things happened and then she gives him her "number" and then she disappears. Forward a couple months and she wrote a book so great that her agent and best friend Luna knows they'll get a movie offer for it.

One of the main problems with this book for me was that it was told in first person POV and if you know me you know I am not a fan of it. So, since we are stuck on Greer's head you get the unabridged version of what is going on. Since she is an author she over thinks everything and over-describes everything else.

After she goes back to California everything gets a bit better in the descriptive nature of the story and we have more characters involved than just her (although it's still 1st person POV from her view). I liked where the story went after she finds Fisher again but again we are stuck in Greer's head so here comes the insecurities and the drama and the trust issues and all that.

I seriously got fed up with her so much but I needed to finish the book if for nothing else than to prove to myself it wasn't so bad. I admit I cried when she open that box but I think the book would have done better if we'd at least gotten another POV aside from hers (even if it was 1st person too).

A Fistful of Charms

The evil night things that prowl Cincinnati despise witch and bounty hunter Rachel Morgan. Her new reputation for the dark arts is turning human and undead heads alike with the intent to possess, bed, and kill her—not necessarily in that order.
Now a mortal lover who abandoned Rachel has returned, haunted by his secret past. And there are those who covet what Nick possesses—savage beasts willing to destroy the Hollows and everyone in it if necessary.
Forced to keep a low profile or eternally suffer the wrath of a vengeful demon, Rachel must nevertheless act quickly. For the pack is gathering for the first time in millennia to ravage and to rule. Suddenly, more than Rachel's soul is at stake.

With each book in this series, I get more and more frustrated and wonder if I should even waste my time finishing this series. Which of course I come back with the response that I am one of those people that one started reading a book/series of the same character I just need to finish it.

In this book, Rachel and Jenks go out of Cincinnati to help Jenks son, Jax and Rachel's ex-boyfriend Nick. As the book progresses Rachel gets into an emotional roller coaster that leaves your head spinning and with a huge desire to wack her upside the head.

I have to say that I care not about Rachel and I'm sure I keep reading this series because I want to know what happens to Ivy, Jenks, Kisten and even Trent. I just know that it will be a while before I pick the next book in this series and I just pray I am in an excellent mood to read it.

I was in a reading slump recently and that might be influencing my review but I found the beginning of this book rather on the slow side.

Lord Furness lost his wife in childbirth and has been mourning since then not caring for the state of his household or that of his son. Miss Saunders hears rumors from a reliable source that he is neglecting his son and she rushes to take the child away from his father and onto the child's grandparents.

From there is a series of everyday social situations that are charming and cute and you just want to know what is behind the characters motivations.

The second half of the book (when I got out of my slump) was all that I could have asked for. We get deeper into the lives of Lord Marklin (Lord Furness uncle), Lord Furness, Jean, and even Tom (Lord Furness son's unofficial caretaker).

I loved Geoffrey, he seemed like a very intelligent child and sometimes you forget that he is only four or five years old. And his antics! I was laughing my ass off.

I will be trying her next book on this series to see if it was just me or the actual book that was the problem since I am curious about Lord Macklin and all the other lords on that dinner.

This book started ion an interesting note and I liked the concept of it. We have this race of aliens that are cat-like and this insect race and all the makings of a great story. And it would have been if I had read the series that this one spins off.

About half the book the characters mention many things that happened in the other series and I was a bit lost. If you are interested in this series I recommend you read the other series CAT STAR CHRONICLES.

That said I liked what little I understood of this book and although I know there are people mad because of a supposed cheating I think it was done correctly in this instance since Larry was never intimate with this other person. Their relationship was superficial on both their sides it seems.

I loved Brak and I found him hilarious at times. I loved the mission they went on and I just wish that I could have read the other series first so I could appreciate this book more.

Will Lilah share her dreams with Garrett? Or will her past destroy them?

This is a cute short story of self-discovery and acceptance that I found I liked.

Lilah is in an abusive relationship. Garrett sees that and tries to help her even when she's in denial and puts herself down. Lilah and Garrett have both been through some painful pasts and I think they are perfect for each other.

What I would have liked was for the author to delve deeper into the character's lives and their backgrounds. We get this small stories of how they got where they are and how they felt at the moment but not much else. Then we have the characters meet on one or two occasions and then they don't see each other for almost a year.

In between, there is nothing letting us know what they've been up to or how they're doing. There is no time for readers to connect with the characters and that is why I gave it 3 stars. It was a likable and entertaining story but not something I'll remember in a few days.

Now Myst, the Vampiric Fae Queen of the Indigo Court, has enough power to begin a long prophesied supernatural war. And Cicely Waters, a witch who can control the wind, may be the only one who can stop her-and save her beloved Fae prince from the Queen's enslavement.
Cicely Waters, a witch who can control the wind, has returned home to New Forest, Washington, after learning that her family is in danger. The Indigo Court holds the city in fear. People are vanishing, and strange deaths plague the town. And when she is swept into an unexpected and passionate reunion with Grieve, the Fae prince who taught her how to harness the wind, Cicely finds herself with a fierce and territorial lover.
But Greive has been enslaved in Myst's court, and now, caught betwen two evils, the lovers must survive the machinations of the Vampiric Fae queen, even as Cicely untangles the hidden secrets to her own heritage.

Mmmm…. What can I say about this book? I did like it, but I didn’t love it. This book was kind of disappointing, at least in my opinion.

I saw this book on one of the blogs I like to visit and saw the series. However, on this blog, they didn’t put the review on it. Anyhow when I started reading I said: “yes, I know this is going to be a kickass book where the heroine will be a kickass woman”.

From my perspective, the author made a weak heroine. Her name is Cicely Waters, who grew with an addicted mother and a selfish bastard. She grew up on the streets -you may say “well she has a thicker skin” but you are wrong-  the author made her so insecure, lost girl, like need to follow orders, etc. I will give her that she cares for her loved ones and still develop. That's it!

There are 2 potential males roles in this story. There is Lannan, who is a maniac bastard and who slept with his own sister, yeah you read me right, HIS OWN FRICKING SISTER IS HIS LOVER. For me, this was the last drop on the glass. Disgusting, Gross, Nasty… -and yes I can continue-! There is Grieve, that is sweet pea one day and a bastard another. I can tell is the chosen one, but again on the book was left behind to be the bad one and leave it to die.

I got so confused by the many troubles and situations that the author wants to put at the same time. I was “What the hell is happening now?”. Like they don’t even make sense! Also got a little bit bored by parts. I was expecting more with this fae storylines, however, I think was too big for the author. I might give an opportunity to at least read the second book, or might not, maybe to try to understand a little bit more. So, maybe you were wondering why I gave 3 stars, well again I liked it but is that something who leaves a bad sensation in my mouth. I know you can understand me. But hey be your own judge on the book and let me know what you think. Do you agree or not with my review? I will loved to hear from you with your comments.

Sophomore Year Was Never Supposed to be This Complicated
Ten years ago, Lorelei McAlister's parents disappeared without a trace, and she is finally beginning to accept the fact that they're never coming back. Life must go on. She's got her grandparents and the support of her best friends, and high school is not quite as painful as she thought it would be.
But This is What Happens When You Fall for the Angel of Death.
Until the day the school's designated loner, Cameron Lusk, begins to stalk her, turning up where she least expects it, standing outside her house in the dark, tough, sexy Jared Kovach - comes to school. Cameron and Jared instantly despise each other, and Lorelei seems to be the reason for their animosity.
Life as She Knows it is About to Change Forever.
What does Jared know about her parents? Why does Cameron tell Jared he can't have Lorelei? And what will any of them do when Death comes knocking for real?

I liked the premises of this book and the characters. From the first scene in that cafe to the school scene and a couple others, I was into the story.

We have Lorelei and her two best friends get into more trouble than they could handle. Then there is Cameron and Jared's antagonism and all the revelations going on left and right.

What made me give this book a 3 stars rating was the fact that it reminded me of the Charlie Davidson series. It's like the author is obsessed with the Grim Reaper or doesn't know how to write anything else but different versions of the same thing.

There are so much more similarities between this book and the books of her Charlie Davidson series. And even though I liked a lot of things in this story I can't get past that small detail.

The Fairytale Curse
by Marina Finlayson
Series: Magic's Return (#1)
Published by: Finesse Solutions
May 8th, 2016
Genre: Fantasy
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 3 Stars

Most people only wake up with hangovers after parties. Seventeen-year-old Violet wakes up with frogs falling out of her mouth whenever she speaks, and her twin sister CJ’s dripping diamonds with every word. As if starting at a new high school wasn’t hellish enough, they’ve been hit with a curse straight out of a fairy tale, with not a handsome prince in sight.
Apparently Mum and Dad don’t work for the military after all, but for a secret organisation dedicated to keeping the magical denizens of the world safely locked away. These are not the harmless fairies of children’s tales, but powerful beings with a score to settle for their long years of imprisonment. Now the barriers are failing, and if Vi can’t find answers fast the world will be overrun with vengeful fairies. And then there’ll be no happily ever after for anyone.

I picked this book up because I needed I book with a cauldron on the cover for a challenge and the second book in this series has one. I liked the concept of the story and I found myself at times engrossed in the story but Violet was just too annoying.

She and her family have moved to a new place and Violet and her twin sister Cristal are starting on a new school. They are juniors in high school almost seniors. Violet and CJ are fraternal twins and CJ is the beauty of the two. So, of course, Violet emphasis this over and over again even though she says she's learned to leave with the fact that CJ is popular and beautiful and such, which we can clearly see she hasn't deal with that.

Other than that I think this story has potential if the author decides to edit out all the whining and add some other elements or expand of the ones she's already presented like the romance or the history of the fairy.

I will read the next book and I'll let you guys know how that one goes. Hopefully, it gets better.

At six foot two, with dirty blond hair, blue eyes, and an incredible body, Ryan has every girl in Seaport swooning. But Taryn isn’t every other girl.
     A Relationship that Doesn’t Follow the Script…
Despite her better judgment, Taryn soon finds herself falling hard for Ryan. But is their bond strong enough to survive the tabloid headlines, the relentless paparazzi, and the jealous fans who seem determined to tear them apart?

I really liked the story of Ryan and Taryn. What I couldn't take was all the girly, girly things on the book. As it was on the POV of Taryn all was very dramatic and it was very annoying. It was very teenagery for me. I like some sentiment behind the story, like with the accident and all but it really killed it for me every time Ryan was made to look like a pussy and not the manly man we want to see on our fantasy.

I get that Tina has to show that he is tired of the constant invasion of privacy and the lies the paparazzi invent just to sell a story but I think she took it to the extreme and showed him to be weak. In my opinion, he could have used a bit more backbone.

I liked the end with the plot of Lauren and Kyle, the accident, and the subsequent reveal of the truth but I think it could have used a little more man personality on it. I just hope that the next book it's not so bad and I can give it a better rating.

Accidentally Married to...a Vampire?
by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Series: Accidentally Yours (#2)
Published by: Forever
March 5th 2013
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: eBook
Source: Purchased
Rating: 3 Stars

THE DETERMINED VAMPIRE: Niccolo DiConti has faithfully served as leader of Her Majesty’s army for over a millennium, but he’d rather sunbathe in the Sahara than spend another grueling day under his demented queen’s command. However, no one has ever left her side and lived to tell. So when a powerful goddess prophesies he will meet his salvation—a human woman he must turn into a vampire with her consent—he eagerly rises to the challenge. After all, how hard could it be to seduce a human female into taking the immortal plunge? Harder than he thinks. Because his mate won’t be born for another three centuries, and when he wakes up in the goddess’ tomb, not only is his life a mess, but his destined female isn’t about to settle for a coldhearted vampire. Can he win her over before it’s too late? Not if his enemies have anything to do with it.
AN UNWILLING BRIDE: On the night Helena Strauss meets the fierce, devastatingly handsome vampire who saves her life in the jungles of Mexico, she knows her world will be forever changed. Because an attraction this mind blowing only comes along once in a lifetime—or existence. And when he claims she is his one true mate, destined to be his for all eternity, it’s a fairytale come true. So what if her knight in shining armor is a vampire? Nobody’s perfect. But discovering the powerful, overbearing immortal doesn’t “do love”? Deal breaker. Helena will flee and set out to accomplish the impossiblexsever the otherworldly bond between them. And it turns out, Helena is just the leverage Niccolo’s enemies need to break the mighty warrior and wipe out his people.

This book was one surprise after another. It was really painful to watch Niccolo try to stay true to the prophecy and not give in to his "male urges", specialy when Helena didn't make it easy. I like the story's plot and the background story of the characters.

I was not expecting a lot of the things that happened on the story (e. i. Reyna and Andrus) and was surprise with the ending.

Cimil is bonkers and I can't wait to read her story. Half the things she says are crazy babbling but make me laugh so much that I don't care! And I look forward to see what is to come for the future as the series progress.

Evelynn Marston didn’t mean to burn down the science room. A little anger, some flames, and an expulsion later, Evie finds herself destined to spend the rest of her high school years at Despaign Academy—named for Connecticut’s last convicted witch.
Despite its shadowy past, Despaign has the same cliques as other schools, and Evie struggles to fit in and to be noticed by the handsome and mysterious Dylan Fox—that is, until she casts her first spell.
But even in a magical place, evil lurks. When Evie’s friend, Laurie Silver, turns up dead, Evie must rely on all her newfound powers and friends to find the truth. But bringing a killer to justice may require stronger magic and true love, the kind that can’t be found in a potion.

I really liked the premises of this story but I got confused. Was Evelynn a witch or not. From the beginning of the book, you get a lot of mixed signals from what her grandmother's telling of what she is to her uncle's scientific explanations but never concrete proof that she wields magic.

Aside from that, I found the book interesting. Evie is a teen with teen problems and a kickass best friend that is unruffled by the notion that she might have powers. I liked how the mystery involving Lauren's death was developed and I have to say I did not see that one coming.

As for the "romance" aspect of the book, I am so annoyed! Why do all these flipping books have to have a love triangle? I was not on board with this Dylan dude from the beginning and I hope she ends up with the other guy. He is so into her and she into him, but like always they are so clueless!

Anyways, I will be reading the next book to see what happens next and see if it unfolds how I'm hoping.

Princess Menshikov of Oxenburg, Alexandra Romanovin, is done being courted by men interested only in her position and wealth. Inspired by tales told by a beloved tutor of the bold and brawny men of Scotland, Alexandra visits that misty land, hoping to find true love. But while traveling without the protection of her royal name, she finds herself accused of thievery by an angry innkeeper. Rescued by the dashing and handsome Earl of Kintore, she thinks she’s found the answer to her prayers—a man worth falling in love with.
But Kintore has other ideas. An avowed bachelor who long ago swore off marriage, the earl wants nothing more than a passionate interlude with this beautiful, exotic stranger. But soon Alexandra’s intoxicating beauty and seductive touch leave Kintore wondering if a mere interlude will be enough...

This was a cute short story.

What I liked about this story was that Alexandra decided to be brave enough and get a man on her own that didn't want her for her money. She showed a strength of character and didn't let Kintore bully her into giving up on what she wanted.

Kintore for his part gave it a good fight but in the end, his heart won out and he couldn't resist the call when it came. It was absolutely heartwarming when he burst into the drawing room.

What I didn't like was the fact that the duchess knew what had happened between them? It was presumptuous of her. I also got mad when the innkeeper accused Alexandra of theft. I know those times were different but really? Even a low-class like her should have noticed the fine linen of her cloth.

Aside from that, I liked the story a because even if it's part of a series it stands on it's own if you don't mind insta-love.

Ryder Wilson returned from serving multiple deployments but can't leave the hell of combat behind him. Frustrated and ashamed of his inability to function in the world as well as the veterans he served with, he retreated, choosing to engage only with those he trusted. When retired Master Sergeant Adam Montague sends him on a mission to protect his sister from some unknown danger, Ryder's days of hiding out may be over. Can he fulfill his mission without failing again?
Megan Gallagher has two big-brother Marines bent on protecting her from the evils of the world, but she's tougher than they think. When her older brother sends Ryder, one of his recon Marines, to her doorstep in the wee hours one night following a break-in, she realizes he needs rescuing more than she does. A friendship forms quickly, but unexpected passions run hot and complicate her resolve never to have a romantic relationship, much less marriage. So why are her body and her heart betraying her every time he comes near?
Can these two wounded people lower their defenses long enough to allow love to grow?

I find myself with mixed feelings about this book. I love the story and how Megan helped Ryder and all the romantic things Ryder did with Megan. But even if it's being a while I remember that the previous books have more context to them and the time frame is longer. This story was just too insta for me. And it also leaves you wanting more of the BDSM aspect of things.

Ryder like every Marine character from previous books served in Fallujah under Adam's command and has PTSD from that mission. Megan is Adam's half-sister and she knows how to deal with PTSD since her other brother is also a Marine that has served in the war and came home with night terrors.

The characters don't have much interaction with others and that is in part what makes it cute and romantic but it is also what makes it such a fast-paced read that leaves you wanting more. I guess this also has to do with the fact that this characters were not introduced in previous books but were just mention in passing.

I hope to have better luck with the next book since is one of the couples I've been looking forward the most.

FATE'S PATH CAN BE ROCKY...
A troubled inheritance ...
Leland Kincaid hasn't been back to Fate Mountain for seven years. Now he's the new Alpha of his clan, and in charge of Timber Bear Ranch. He soon discovers that his father left the ranch in so much debt that he and his brothers might be forced to sell everything. As if that's not tough enough, the new auditor examining his books is his mate!
A difficult assignment ...
Sylvia Barker is ready to settle down, but not with any of the terrible dates her mom keeps arranging. A shifter-human dating website matches her to Leland, and their chemistry is immediate -- but the next day, she finds out she's auditing him. If he loses the ranch, it could wreck things between them.
A sinister agenda
As Leland works to uncover his father's secrets, Sylvia is targeted lurking enemies. Can Leland save his mate and his ranch, or will he lose them all?

Boss Bear is the first book in a new series connected to Fate Mountain, the place of Rescue Bear and Bear Patrol series. I love it every time I can read a spin-off series and get to see a glimpse of the characters of the other series. There are so many little details that connect the series’ like the mate.com app and the hyenas and other things.

Leland Kincaid returns home after learning that his dad died. He then learns that his dad has named him alpha of the Kincaid clan and just in how much trouble his family is in.

Sylvia Barker is sent to fate mountain to audit the Timber Bear Ranch and then find out it belongs to her mate at which point she wants to find a way to help Leland keep his land.

It was obvious to me a miracle had to happen and I kind of figured something like what saved the ranch was going to happen but it still felt anticlimactic when it happened.

I liked the book well enough and since I’ve read the Rescue Bears and the Bear Patrol series and given 4 stars overall to both series I will be reading the next book in this series. I just think that I read this one at the wrong time in my reading life.

Lure of the Dragon

Series: Aloha Shifters: Jewels of the Heart (#1)
Published by: Twin Moon Press

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: eBook

Rating: 3 Stars

Good dragons? Bad dragons? Twenty-four hours ago, private chef Tessa Byrne didn’t know about the terrifying world of shifters. Now she knows too much, like the fact that a ruthless dragon lord is determined to claim her — forever. Tessa flees to Maui, where sunny skies, swaying palms, and a handsome stranger conspire to play tricks with her heart. Can she truly trust Kai Llewellyn and his band of battle-hardened shapeshifters to save her from a gruesome fate?
"Don’t trust a human, and never, ever fall in love with one." Those are lessons Kai learned the hard way. But Tessa is different. Her emerald eyes mirror the mysterious pendant she wears, and her flaming red hair makes his heart race. Is his inner dragon just greedy for a new kind of treasure, or is Tessa his destined mate?

I struggled a bit with this book. I have been reading it for about 6 months and just now finished it. I liked the plot of the story but there was something in the writing style that didn’t let me got into it.

Tessa is running for her life after discovering that there are more things in this world than humans. She is a private chef and was contracted to prepared dinner for a wealthy man that got obsessed with her as soon as he saw her and locked her up after transforming into a dragon in front of her. She is helped by another shifter and sent to Maui for protection.

Needless to say her protectors are shifters too and one of them (Kai) is her mate. What they don’t know and learn piece by piece is why Morgan was so obsessed with her.

A lot of times the chemistry between the main couple wasn’t there for me. There were a lot of thing that were rushed and others left in the air (or maybe they are there but as I wasn’t to into the story I didn’t find them).

I did like one of the other characters and I might try the second book just to see it it was just me that was not in the right mindset or not.
