Always the caretaker, former Marine Reid Griffith wants to help his brother adjust to civilian life…and help other former servicemen. What better way to utilize their brawn, discipline, and charm than a moving company that hires veterans? But although Reid prides himself on being strategic, he certainly doesn’t plan to fall in the spotlight of one brilliant—and beautiful—PR whiz…
PR expert Naomi Starr is determined to bring Vets on the Go! into the spotlight. But when she meets Reid, it might mean breaking her rule to never mix business with pleasure. Especially once she discovers that underneath Reid’s sexy rough-and-tumble exterior is a vulnerable man who just might need what she’s got to give.

Vets on the Go! it's a small fledgling moving company founded by two brothers and a cousin that only hires veterans.

Reid Griffith is the youngest of the two brothers and the one that is in charge with the administrative side of things. You could even say that Vets on the Go! it's Reid's brainchild as he wanted to help his brother sustain a job.

When Reid's brother and another employee stop a burglar and are featured on the news, Naomi Starr, a PR expert decides to offer her services to take Vets on the Go! to the next level.

I loved the story behind the moving company, I loved the characters (although sometimes the main characters were a little bit awkward together) and I loved the diversity of the characters.

There were some elements of the story that I didn't like too, like the "villain" (the story could have done without that little "trouble" in my opinion), and her constant obsession of not getting involved with a "coworker".

Aside from that, I think that it was a really cute story and I'll definitely read the next book in the series.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me

Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.
But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked.
For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn't find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He's asking for the unthinkable.
What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

Wow, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, where do I begin...

The book starts with this girl Vanessa, who is the assistant/housekeeper of Aiden, also known as the Wall of Winnipeg, wanting to quit because she has accumulated enough money for her to start her own business. She knew from the beginning that this job was not going to be something permanent; that she had a goal.

Then it goes on to say how she started working for him and doing everything for him and what was expected from her. How she, in the beginning, didn't know anything about the job that she was going to do but she was going to make it work because she needed the money and this job paid really good. Everything after that is Aiden, Aiden, Aiden, the Wall of Winnipeg, Aiden, Aiden, the Wall of Winnipeg, blah blah blah.

I made it about a hundred pages into the book and then I DNF'ed it. Aiden was an ass and Vanessa has a very low opinion of herself for having held on to a job that she was not happy with because she needed the money and because Aiden was a cold bastard.

Then after that, for him to have the gall to ask her for a favor even when she kept saying no, no and no? I really don't know how this book can improve so I'm not going to keep reading it. And I seriously do not understand how this book made it to people's top tens of the year and in some cases even the top one.

Sarah has gone thru some difficult times and she expects at any moment for people to show her their true face and disappoint her again. But while she resists her attraction to Bones, the once cool and level-headed doc is taking a chance on this attraction without overthinking it.

Slowly but surely this two break down the walls surrounding Sarah's heart and falling in love not just with each other but with the kids too.

The only thing I have to say is that I am mad at myself for not trying Melissa Foster before now. I have seen her books on several sites and stores and I've not grabbed one for one reason or other but no more, if I see it I buy it!

This book had me in such a roller coaster of emotions. Not even 30% into the story and I'd already cried on 4 different scenes. But not just that. I loved that even as I was crying one moment the next I would be laughing the next bawling then smiling then teary-eyed and so on. I really cannot recomend this book enough, you guys just stop reding this and go buy it now. Now! NOW!

Obsidian Magic
by McKenzie Hunter
Series: Legacy (#2)
Published by: Sky Publishing LLC
March 17th, 2017
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 4 Stars

The only thing standing between me and death is my secret.
I’m a Legacy—a secret I’d planned on taking to my grave. Gareth, the enigmatic leader of the Supernatural Guild, knows it, but can I trust him to keep it? When mysterious deaths occur as a result of magic that mimics my own, I no longer have to worry about Gareth exposing me – it will be one of my own that does. Another Legacy is causing the chaos, and I’m forced to hunt my own kind. It seems simple, but we’ve existed for as long as we have because we’re better hunters than prey.
I’m forced to work with Gareth to clear my name and find the Legacy responsible. Not only is my secret about to be revealed—so is his. Gareth is much more dangerous than I expected. Is he my friend or my enemy?

This book starts days later from when book one started. Still, Olivia is hiding who she is from the magical and human worlds. Only her best friend Savanah and Gareth know what she is. She understands why her friend keeps quiet about it, what she wants to know is why Gareth-head of the Supernatural Guild (the magical police force)-doesn't arrest her.

Throughout the book, Olivia tries to unravel the mystery of Gareth not turning her in and how he knows her real name while at the same time trying to stop Conner and his cohorts from performing another Cleanse.

I love that Olivia is a kickass heroine that doesn't wait around for anyone to help her. If something needs to be done she goes and does it and doesn't complain about it, even if what she most do is reveal herself to the world.

This book was filled with "Oh Shit" moments and revelations and action and fighting and a million other thing that had me hooked on it from beginning to end. I can't wait to read the next book on the series and see what is going to happen now with the Guardians of Order and how it is going to affect all that Olivia and Gareth have accomplished so far.

The Fairytale Curse
by Marina Finlayson
Series: Magic's Return (#1)
Published by: Finesse Solutions
May 8th, 2016
Genre: Fantasy
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 3 Stars

Most people only wake up with hangovers after parties. Seventeen-year-old Violet wakes up with frogs falling out of her mouth whenever she speaks, and her twin sister CJ’s dripping diamonds with every word. As if starting at a new high school wasn’t hellish enough, they’ve been hit with a curse straight out of a fairy tale, with not a handsome prince in sight.
Apparently Mum and Dad don’t work for the military after all, but for a secret organisation dedicated to keeping the magical denizens of the world safely locked away. These are not the harmless fairies of children’s tales, but powerful beings with a score to settle for their long years of imprisonment. Now the barriers are failing, and if Vi can’t find answers fast the world will be overrun with vengeful fairies. And then there’ll be no happily ever after for anyone.

I picked this book up because I needed I book with a cauldron on the cover for a challenge and the second book in this series has one. I liked the concept of the story and I found myself at times engrossed in the story but Violet was just too annoying.

She and her family have moved to a new place and Violet and her twin sister Cristal are starting on a new school. They are juniors in high school almost seniors. Violet and CJ are fraternal twins and CJ is the beauty of the two. So, of course, Violet emphasis this over and over again even though she says she's learned to leave with the fact that CJ is popular and beautiful and such, which we can clearly see she hasn't deal with that.

Other than that I think this story has potential if the author decides to edit out all the whining and add some other elements or expand of the ones she's already presented like the romance or the history of the fairy.

I will read the next book and I'll let you guys know how that one goes. Hopefully, it gets better.

Sun God Seeks...Surrogate?
by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Series: Accidentally Yours (#3)
Published by: Hachette Audio

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: Audiobook

Rating: 4 Stars

A Deal from Heaven
Living in New York City, Penelope Trudeau has seen a lot of weird stuff-but nothing like the insane redhead who accosts her with a wild proposition. Penelope will get a million dollars if she has a baby with the strange woman's brother. With her mother dying from a mysterious disease, Penelope can use the money. Yet the terrified waitress is adamant that her womb and eggs are not for sale . . . until she meets her intended mate. He's impressively built, gorgeous, and red-hot, literally. He's a freaking immortal Sun God.
For thousands of years, Kinich (Nick to his friends) didn't believe in fraternizing with humans, so procreating with them is definitely a no-no. But after one sizzling encounter with the beautiful, passionate Penelope, Nick begins to think he was wrong . . . until he realizes meeting Penelope was just another one of his crazy sister's schemes at manipulation. But now that he has Penelope in his life, he can't let her go. Especially because doing so means throwing her into the hands of his dangerous enemies.

First thing I have to mention is that like I said before Cimil is bonkers but I just love her. She is hilarious and I can't wait to read her book.

In this book, Cimil plots for one of her "brothers" to have a surrogate and from the moment Penelope meets Cimil she is thrust into a crazy existence that turns her world upside down. Penelope learns of the existence of gods and vampires and demi-gods and many a paranormal creature.

With every book, I am liking this series better and better. I can't wait to see what else is in store for this crazy bunch and how will all this unravel since everything goes to shit by the end of the books.

Maid for Love
by Marie Force
Series: The McCarthys of Gansett Island (#1)
Published by: HTJB, Inc.
April 28th, 2011
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: eBook
Source: Free (Amazon)
Rating: 4 Stars

Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she’s knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy’s Resort Hotel by Gansett’s “favorite son,” Mac McCarthy. He’s back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. When Mac accidentally sends Maddie flying over the handlebars, badly injuring her, he moves in to nurse her back to health and help care for her young son. He soon realizes his plans for a hit-and-run visit to the island are in serious jeopardy, and he just may be “maid” for love.

This was s sweet story of small-town gossip and second chances at love. Although is a cliche about a poor woman (Madeline "Maddie" Chester) and the town's golden boy (Malcolm John "Mac" McCarthy Junior) it was still a great read for me. I laughed and I cried and I fell in love with Mac's will to help Maddie even when she was hell-bent against it.

I loved that Mac was patient towards Maddie and her insecurities and that he didn't push her to be comfortable with her body, he just gave her time for her to come to terms with it and let Mac in at her own time. I really think it was very generous of him to offer to pay for the surgery, but only if she wanted it. With that, I think that she doesn't need it. He just showed her there that he isn't with her for her big breasts, that he likes her for her.

Another thing I liked was that the author paved the way for the next book really well without taking away from Mac and Maddie's story, and I'm glad that this book is free because it leads me to this awesome series which I'll go ahead and buy book two. I can't wait for Joe and Janey's story, with that excerpt at the end I just have to read more!

The Raven Boys
by Maggie Stiefvater
Series: The Raven Cycle (#1)
Published by: Scholastic Press
September 18th, 2012
Genre: Fantasy
Format: Audiobook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 4 Stars

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.
His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

Another exciting find from the library audiobook section. I find day by day that I am able to ignore (up to a point) the narrators that I don't like and enjoying the stories behind the voice. Will Patton was my first male narrator so it was quite a while before I got used to that fact but I still love this book.

Blue is the daughter of a psychic and, although she has no power of her own, she is able to amplify the power of others. Gansey is an Aglionby student (a local private school for rich children whose logo is a raven) who is obsessed with magic and ley lines and has traveled all over the world in search of someone.

A couple other Aglionby boys have helped Gansey on his search and when something strange happens to Gansey on St. Patricks day(?) one of them suggests he goes see a local psychic to see what it all means.

From the moment that Blue and Gansey meet it is a rollercoaster of discoveries and shocks that left me wanting more every time I had to stop listening. I liked all the characters from Gansey to Ronan to Adam to Blue, Persephone, Mora, and Calla. All that happens in this book is intricate and connected and I feel transported to this fantasy world that the author has created.

That ending has me intrigued as to how Ronan was able to get Chainsaw and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Double-Sided Magic

Rating: 4 Stars

I am Levy Michaels. Once my kind were the hunters—now we are the hunted
Supernaturals are out of the closet but I have to stay hidden because of the type of magic I possess. I’m a Legacy. It sounds like the title should come with reverence, a trust fund, or at the very least a cool backstory—instead it comes with a death sentence.
I have to hide in plain sight and pretend to be just human. I’m pretty good at it. I live a simple and somewhat normal life, and I work in antique acquisitions. Everything’s going fine until a dangerous and enchanted dagger that was once in my possession is stolen. I didn’t think things could get any worse until I woke up next to a dead shifter, fae, and mage, without any memory of the past twenty-four hours.
Considered guilty of murder by most of the magical community and humans, I must work with Gareth, the sexy and dangerous leader of the Supernatural Guild. If he’s as good as rumored, it’s only a matter of time until he discovers the truth about me—then being found guilty of murder is the least of my worries.

First person POV is not my thing and I find myself dreading it when I want to read a book so badly because of the cover or the description only to find out is in first person. But there are some times when it has paid off my taking the risk since I am a person that cannot not finish a book even if it's horrible. I am glad I did take a risk with this book.

Levy Michaels is being hunted because of who she is and not what she has done. She is in hiding and staying away from anything or anyone that can figure out who she is. Even when people try to kill her she deals with them without resorting to killing.

After she is found at the site a a triple murder with no memory of what happened she must find out what happened to her and why. She must do this at the same time as she has to dodge the incessant questioning from the head of the Guild a shapeshifter that can smell the magic on her.

From the moment I opened this book I was hooked. Levy is quirky and strong and I just loved her. There were some parts where I found things repetitive but it wasn't something big. I was left with some questions that I hope are answered in one of the following books but this one ended great. It just left you with enough unanswered questions to pike your interest to keep reading the series.

A Lady Can Never Be Too Curious
by Mary Wine
Series: Steam Guardians (#1)
Published by: Sourcebooks Casablanca
August 7th, 2012
Genre: Steampunk
Format: eBook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 4 Stars

Beneath the Surface of Victorian Life Lies a Very Different World…
Hated and feared by the upper classes, the Illuminists guard their secrets with their lives. Janette Aston’s insatiable quest for answers brings her to their locked golden doors, where she encounters the most formidable man she’s ever met.
Darius Lawley’s job is to eliminate would–be infiltrators, but even he may be no match for Janette’s cunning and charm…

I have read Mary Wine before and I've liked her books and this one is no different although it's a different genre.

In this one, we get Janette Aston, a society lady that has to hide the fact that she is a curious intelligent woman because she is a lady and in her society knowledge is only for men. Women are only pretty decorations to be showed off.

Darius Lawley is the head guardian of a cell from a secret order called the Illuminists and his job is to make sure their secrets don't get out to the general public.

Darius and Janette meet when she goes into the Illuminists' (I think is called) Silent Chamber after donning the kind of clothing the Illuminist women prefer. She is a Pure Spirit, which means she can handle the crystals that power all the Illuminists' inventions without getting hurt.

From the moment she and Darius meet is fun to see how they try to stay apart from each other and how Janette struggles to strip years of proper rearing. The book is a combination modern and historical that makes for an exciting read trying to imagine what it could have been.

One funny fact about this book is the name of the Hawaiian King Kamehameha. It makes me think about Dragon Ball Z.

I didn't give it 5 stars because of where some things that were left in the air or were rushed in the end that they left me with more questions than anything. Hope they get solved or explained in greater detail in book 2 which I will most definitely be reading.
