Havoc
by Kindle Alexander
Series: Tattoos and Ties Duet
Published by: Author
November 25th, 2018
Genre: GLBTQ Romance
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 2.5 Stars

Keyes Dixon’s life is challenging enough as a full patch member of the Disciples of Havoc Motorcycle Club but being a gay biker leaves him traveling down one tough road. With an abusive past and his vow to the club cementing his future, he doesn’t believe in love and steers clear of commitment. But a midnight ride leads to a chance meeting with a sexy distraction that has him going down quicker than a Harley on ice.
Cocky Assistant District Attorney Alec Pierce lives in the shadow of his politically connected family. A life of privilege doesn’t equal a life of love, a fact made obvious at every family gathering. Driven yet lonely, Alec yields to his family’s demands for his career path, hoping for the acceptance he craves. Until he meets a gorgeous biker who tips the scales in the favor of truth and he can no longer live a lie.
Can two men from completely different worlds…and sides of the law…find common ground, or will all their desires only wreak Havoc?

If I had known this was a duet before starting the book I might have enjoyed it more.

You have on one side Keyes who is a motorcycle club (MC) member. The Disciples of Havoc is not an all together up and up club but they have improved since the olden days. The members of Havoc have been in the eye of the DA for years (which has helped on their being in the "right" path) but something else happened and they get raided by the FBI and ICE.

Enter Alec, who is a lawyer with the DA's office and you get a recipe for disaster and who doesn't love a good forbidden romance story.

This book started strong and I loved it but then I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop as to Key and Alec's forbidden relationship (I mean you know this is not going to seat well with the other members of the club) but nothing was happening.

They've had a relationship for months and nothing happened apart from some small things here and there and the rest was them having sex. Now like I said at the beginning if I'd had known this was a duet I might have realized that their story continues and I wouldn't have been so disappointed after all this was the "getting to know each other" part of the story and where you connect with the characters and such.

It was a great story but not what I was hoping for. I will be reading the second part of their story to see how it ends and since I know what to expect now, hopefully, I'll enjoy it more.

The Simple Wild
by K. A. Tucker
Published by: Atria Books
August 7th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: Paperback
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 4.5 Stars

Calla Fletcher wasn't even two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla’s father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when Calla learns that Wren’s days may be numbered, she knows that it’s time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.
She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can’t help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this rugged environment, Jonah—the unkempt, obnoxious, and proud Alaskan pilot who helps keep her father’s charter plane company operational—can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. And he’s clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.
Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. Soon, she finds herself forming an unexpected bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago. It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

I have been wanting to read this book for a while and I am kicking my own ass for not having picked it up sooner.

Calla's story was one full of heartwarming and heartbreaking moments that had me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I was surprised by many things and not so by others but I enjoyed every minute of this book. I love the writing style and characters.

Calla and Jonah were hilarious a lot of the time and I felt the awkwardness and the bonding process between Wren and Calla. I really have no proper words to describe how much I enjoyed this book and I wish I can forget it just so I can read it all over again and experience the emotions like the first time.

I will be definitively looking for more of this author's work and I highly recommend that you pick up this book.

Foster Stewart knows she's different. Her life has never been "normal." Talking to plants and controlling cloud formations aren't things most seventeen-year-olds are into. Tate "Nighthawk" Taylor is perfect. Star quarterback and all around dreamy boy next door he never thought about his "extra" abilities. What quarterback wouldn't want night vision? That's not weird, right? It's cool!
But on the night of their first meeting, a deadly tornado brings them together and awakens their true abilities - the power to control the element air. Unbeknown to Tate and Foster, they are the first in a group of teens that were genetically manipulated before birth to bond with the elements. Which truly sucks for Foster, as she has to face the fact that Dr. Rick Stewart, her beloved scientist father, betrayed her and now wants to use her and the others for his own nefarious world domination plot.
Foster and Tate must stop Dr. Stewart and his minions before he destroys their lives and the world.

I requested this book because I remembered enjoying the HoN series by this mother-daughter duo.

Although I did enjoy the story and the images throughout the book I didn't feel that attraction to reading the hell out of this book like I did the HoN.

I will say that the premiss of the story and what is going on with the characters powers and abilities is interesting. Maybe is the first book syndrome or it might just be that I wasn't in the mood to read a book like this at the moment so I will be watching for the next book in the series and see how that goes.

I did buy myself a copy of the book because like I said it has some interesting images that go with the story and I really liked that.

For a Few Demons More
by Kim Harrison
Series: The Hollows (#5)
Published by: Harper Audio
September 4th, 2012
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Format: Audiobook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 2.5 Stars

Despite dating one vampire and living with another, Rachel Morgan has always managed to stay just ahead of trouble . . . until now.
A fiendish serial killer stalks the Hollows, and no one living in or around Cincinnati—human, inhuman, or undead—is safe.
An ancient artifact may be the key to stopping the murderer—a mysterious relic that is now in the hands of Rachel Morgan, fearless independent bounty hunter and reckless witch. But revealing it could ignite a battle to the death among the vast and varied local supernatural races.
Rachel's been lucky so far. But even she can't hide from catastrophe forever.

With every book I get more and more frustrated with this series. Rachel needs to figure out if she is lesbian, bi or heterosexual and stop going all over the place with her "feelings".

Ivy was one of my favorite characters but now she is making like Rachel and having her feelings all over the place. Same goes with Kisten.

The only good thing in this series is Jenks and even he has an expiration date.

I am seriously debating whether to continue reading this series only to see what happens with Jenks or if I should just stop here.

Enchanting the Lady
by Kathryne Kennedy
Series: Relics of Merlin (#1)
Published by: Sourcebooks Casablanca
August 1st, 2012
Genre: Fantasy
Format: eBook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 4.5 Stars

His Magic Condems Him...
In a Victorian England with a rigid hierarchy of magic, lion shapeshifter Sir Terence Blackwell is at the bottom of the rung of society. Only Lady Felicity Seymour, who has no magic, no inheritance, and no prospects, may be willing to judge the man strictly on his own merits...
Until She Reveals His True Power...
When family pressures push Lady Felicity into a terrible fate, she has only Sir Terence to turn to. Together, the two outcasts become embroiled in the dark depths beneath society's facade. And what they discover about each other is the only thing that's real...

Enchanting the Lady is a fantasy / historical romance that centers on the story of Merlin.

The order of the monarchy is not pass down through the eldest of the family, it is passed down to the person that can hold it through their magic.

There are different levels of magic and so there are different levels in the monarchy; king, dukes, earl's, etc. At a certain point in their life, every child has to go through a testing which will allow the king to know what title this person will have.

Felicity is the acting Duchess of Stonehaven until she can prove that she has the magic to hold that title. The only problem is that she can sense her magic but she cannot seem to grasp it to use it.

Terrence Blackwell is a baronet. He is the lowest of the low in the magical chain since he has no magic whatsoever. What he does have is resistance against magic, which is why the king has awarded the Were kind a title, since they are the perfect bodyguards.

Terrence has been tasked with finding relics of dark magic that have different effects and they all manipulate other magic users in different ways.

Since the beginning of this book I was hooked and I was intrigued by all the different layers of magic and the monarchy and how they inherit their titles. It is a different concept and something I have not read before.

Although with some of the things I knew what was going to happen I still enjoyed the reading. Author Kathryne Kennedy knows how to weave the story and have the readers engaged.

I will be definitely reading more of this series. If you like historical romance and fantasy then you should really try this series.

We are thrilled to be sharing with you the release of BETTING ON HER, the second book in Kelly Collins's Wilde Love series. If you love mafia romance, this is one series you don't want to miss - be sure to grab your copy today!

Series: Wilde Love (#2)

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: eARC

Rating: 4 Stars

Welcome back to Wilde country where lies are told and secrets are kept. Too bad what happens in Vegas never stays a secret.
Katya Petrenko’s importance lies in her ability to create strong alliances through marriage. After failing to get the oldest Wilde brother to the altar, Katya is promised to a notorious Russian hitman who has the Wilde’s in his crosshairs. She must choose between loyalty to her family or protecting Matt, the bother who stole her heart years ago. She rolls the dice at the chance to win at love but will Matt be her next losing hand?
Matt Wilde has had his share of troubles. Born into mob life it’s all he knows. After spending the last three years in prison he’s ready to run Old Money Casino legitimately until trouble arrives wearing a red dress. Matt is torn between loving Katya, the woman he knows and hating her for being the daughter of the man who killed his father. When danger threatens to take everything away, will Katya be a safe bet or will he have to go all in to save them both?
Life is a gamble but can two people double down and win at love?

I don't really know what I expected of this book but it blew my mind away just like book one. And like a mention before every "mob" book I've read I've ended either giving it 1-2 stars or DNFing it but this ones I have fallen in love with.

Katya is the ex-fiance of Matt's brother in book one and she is forced to become the fiance of another man that the Russian Bratva has appointed because of her father's carelessness in disposing of the Wilde's father.

Matt has just recently gotten out of jail after been there for several years because he was saving Katya from a mistake she made. This two have held a torch for each other from a very young age and after Alex and Katya got engaged after a deal their parents made Matt decided that distance was the best thing he could do.

Now that the engagement has ended Matt knows he shouldn't get involved with her because he's family is out of the mafia business but when Katya shows up on his doorstep he can't help but get involved.

I felt the connection between the characters and I loved the story. Collins really knows how to make this mafia business work (at least for me) and how to connect all the characters in one way or another.

My only problem with this books are that they are told in first person POV and I don't like it. Other than that I can't wait to read the next book in the series and I'll definitively be looking more into this author's books.

Christmas at Tiffany’s
by Karen Swan
Published by: Macmillan Digital Audio
November 2, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: Audiobook
Source: Purchased
Rating: 4 Stars

Christmas at Tiffany's is an exciting, globe-trotting story of friendship and romance from Karen Swan.
Cassie settled down too young, marrying her first serious boyfriend. Now, 10 years later, she is betrayed and broken. With her marriage in tatters and no career or home of her own, she needs to work out where she belongs in the world and who she really is.
So begins a yearlong trial as Cassie leaves her sheltered life in rural Scotland to stay with each of her best friends in the most glamorous cities in the world: New York, Paris, and London. Exchanging grouse moor and mousy hair for low-carb diets and high-end highlights, Cassie tries on each city for size as she attempts to track down the life she was supposed to have been leading, and with it the man who was supposed to love her all along.
Christmas at Tiffany's is followed by the captivating sequel, Summer at Tiffany's.

Oh, what can I say about this novel? The reality is that I did not have many expectations, because of the fiasco of last week, I have taken to read first and not to be carried away by the cover. Since we are talking about the cover, it is not beautiful, this is the image that crosses my mind when I think about Christmas.

And since I'm a little busy at work, I better listen to it, so I work and listen to a book (I felt so multitasking doing this way, and even better I got paid in the meanwhile too, LOL). I do not know who came up with the idea of audiobooks, but he or she is a damn genius.

I LOVE CHRISTMAS. Ejem, since November, began I put up my Christmas tree already. I am total freaky about Christmas. My husband tells me "for God's sake, has not passed thanksgiving yet and you're already with Christmas". I say "If you do not want to sleep with the dog, better not even start" (just in case you wonder we do not have a dog).

Let's talk about the protagonist, her name is Cassie, and god, there were moments that made me desperate. But throughout the novel, we can see an evolution of it. The reality is that I loved that the author did it this way. It was like the metamorphosis of a butterfly. The truth is that I love this character. Thank god that she really count with true friends, who helped to go through the treasury and lies.

Henry is our male protagonist. Ahh, I sighed for him from the first list he gave to Cassie, (they have to read it to know the lists). He contributed a lot to Cassie's transformation.

The reality is that once again can not trust those who say they call themselves best friends with your partners or significant others. Always in life, we have admirers who, instead of shining with their own light, want to shine by extinguishing that of others. After that poetic moment I gave you, I recommend this novel.

I downloaded with the audiobook in the Audible app. Amazon is offering 30 days of free trial and 2 books totally free. Even if you cancel after the trial, the books are yours to keep. Here I leave the link down below so you can go and download the app and the book. I hope to hear your opinions.

Since I  love so much Christmas, I am thinking about making a book giveaway. What do you guys think? Let me know in your comments that books seemed interesting to have. Kisses and see you next week with more details.

A Fistful of Charms
by Kim Harrison
Series: The Hollows (#4)
Published by: Tantor Media
January 9th, 2008
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Format: Audiobook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 3 Stars

The evil night things that prowl Cincinnati despise witch and bounty hunter Rachel Morgan. Her new reputation for the dark arts is turning human and undead heads alike with the intent to possess, bed, and kill her—not necessarily in that order.
Now a mortal lover who abandoned Rachel has returned, haunted by his secret past. And there are those who covet what Nick possesses—savage beasts willing to destroy the Hollows and everyone in it if necessary.
Forced to keep a low profile or eternally suffer the wrath of a vengeful demon, Rachel must nevertheless act quickly. For the pack is gathering for the first time in millennia to ravage and to rule. Suddenly, more than Rachel's soul is at stake.

With each book in this series, I get more and more frustrated and wonder if I should even waste my time finishing this series. Which of course I come back with the response that I am one of those people that one started reading a book/series of the same character I just need to finish it.

In this book, Rachel and Jenks go out of Cincinnati to help Jenks son, Jax and Rachel's ex-boyfriend Nick. As the book progresses Rachel gets into an emotional roller coaster that leaves your head spinning and with a huge desire to wack her upside the head.

I have to say that I care not about Rachel and I'm sure I keep reading this series because I want to know what happens to Ivy, Jenks, Kisten and even Trent. I just know that it will be a while before I pick the next book in this series and I just pray I am in an excellent mood to read it.

He’s a gangster going straight. She’s a waitress going bankrupt. Will their gamble on a marriage of convenience pay off in true love?
Alex Wilde desperately wants to be free of the family’s mob business. But when his infamous father is murdered, the family attorney makes a suggestion he can’t ignore: find a bride before the funeral or they'll force a wedding with a nice Russian gangster girl. When he meets a feisty cocktail waitress, he thinks he’s found his way out.
Faye Tandy is desperately in debt and hard-pressed to find help. Alex’s offer of a phony marriage for a ton of cash couldn’t come at a better time and she’s happy to help him exit the criminal world. The fact that he’s tall, dark, and handsome is an attractive bonus. But when she discovers the Russians have a contract out on her head, she wonders if divorced and bankrupt would be a better choice than rich and dead...
As Faye’s fake feelings for Alex turn real, she’s terrified her trip to the altar might be her last. Will Alex and Faye’s throw of the dice succeed or will they lose the lawless game of love?

I want to cry at this moment. I had this review already scheduled to go and I was writing another and the blog somehow mixed them and I ended up with two reviews of the same book and a missing scheduled review. I will attempt to redo this review but I am very sure it will not come out as awesome as it was before.

So this book is about this guy Alex who is the older brother of three and at the moment the head of the family empire. His dad had just died and he wants to take his family on the strait and narrow and get out of the mob. Problem is that his dad made a deal with one of the other mafia families and he has to marry the man's daughter. Or does he?

Enter Faye, a waitress in financial need that works on the casino hotel his family owns. Thanks to an offhanded comment from the family lawyer (at least I think it was offhanded unless it was a veiled suggestion) he decides to get married to Faye and makes her an offer she can't refuse.

From the moment Faye and Alex meet I fell in love with their characters. Faye is a sassy, funny woman that doesn't let Alex walk all over her even when he is the "man in charge". I loved how this characters fell in love and that Alex was always helping Faye one way or another to achieve her dream.

The sexy scenes were hot with the office scene been one of my favorites. I also liked how the author paved the way for the next book and I cannot wait to see how Katya and Matt find a way to be together.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas
by Katie Ruggle
Series: Rocky Mountain Cowboys (#1)
Published by: Sourcebooks Casablanca
September 25th, 2018
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Format: eARC
Source: Publisher (NetGalley)
Rating: 5 Stars

In the heart of the Rockies
In the arms of a cowboy
One white Christmas can change everything.
When firefighter and single dad Steve Springfield moved his four kids to a Colorado Christmas tree ranch, he intended for it to be a safe haven. But he never expected danger to follow them to his childhood home...
Or that he would come face-to-face with the one girl he could never forget.
Folk artist Camille Brandt lives a quiet life. As the town's resident eccentric, she's used to being lonely--until Steve freaking Springfield changes everything. Brave and kind, he's always had a piece of her heart, and it doesn't take long before she's in danger of falling for him and his rambunctious kids. But as mysterious fires break out across the sleepy Colorado town, Steve and Camille will have to fight if they want their happy family to survive until Christmas...

     Brava Ms. Ruggle, Brava...

This book was magnifíc from the moment Steve-freaking-Springfield sets eyes on Camille to that last heartfelt scene at the end.

Since the moment I found out that Steve (how appeared on the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series) was going to have his own book and be a man in uniform AND a cowboy to boot? I soooo needed to get my hands on this book.

I have read most of Katie's books and I just love them. She manages to keep me guessing and second-guessing who might be the person causing all the trouble. And even if you think you know who the person is because it's revealed from the beginning? She still shocks you with unexpected twists and turns.

This book was no different and so much more. I fell in love with Steve's kids and I laughed out loud with their antics. I cried and I cheered and I suffered thru many awkward moments along with the characters and I can not properly express how much I loved this book.

I was sad at the end but I hope Steve's brother gets the help he needs and that he understands that they are not kids anymore to be competing to see who's best.

I cannot wait for the next book on this series and I am hoping Joe gets an HEA too; that is sure to be a hilarious and much more awkward read, lol...

Kit Jernigan despairs of ever fitting in with her new tight-knit K9 unit. They've been through too much to open their arms to a stranger―and as mysterious fires begin raging across Monroe, she can't convince them to trust her long enough to catch the woman she knows is responsible.
Wesley March, local fire spotter, knows Kit is right, and he's willing to help her prove it. But the more time they spend together, the closer they get...and the more danger they're in. A member of the K9 unit's inner circle is determined to get revenge―no matter who gets burned in the process.
     This time, it's personal.

What I love about this series is that it is a K9 unit. Okay, let me explain that so it's not a duh moment. I lot of books that have (to your understanding) animals in them (be it K9's or one of the main characters is a vet, etc) you almost never (if ever) see interactions with animals.

In this series, you see the K9's all the time. They are a constant character and companion to their respective policemen. You have Viggy (book 1), you have Lexi (book 2), Xena (book 3) and now Justice. Each and every one of them with a special ability that the others don't have.

After reading the last book I knew (at least I was hoping) that there was going to be another book in the series. I am sad to say I am not feeling that way now. I do think this is the last book in this series but I at the same time love that about it. I will not be dragged around by dozens of books that will with time make me hate this awesome series.

Kit is the new addition to the Monroe K9 unit and from the first day she arrives, she knows it is going to take a lot to have her fellow officers trust her. As days go by it gets more and more difficult to achieve this as her dog keeps tracking the bad guy to a familiar and loved place.

Her only bright spot it seems is the quirky, nerdy recluse that leaves on the fire watch tower and that has awesome gadgets. Although you don't get a lot of Wes at the beginning of the book I think it was a well-written book and that everything happened at the moment it should have. There is so much going on that you don't even notice it.

I also liked that all the books are connected by something other than the main characters. They are also connected by a secondary (almost phantom) character Mr. Espina(o?) and the bad guys are connected too (at least most of them).

I will highly, absolutely and lovingly recommend this series to any romance reader out there. It is truly worth your time.

There's no witch in Cincinnati tougher, sexier, or more screwed up than bounty hunter Rachel Morgan, who's already put her love life and soul in dire jeopardy through her determined efforts to bring criminal night creatures to justice.
Between "runs," she has her hands full fending off the attentions of her blood-drinking partner, keeping a deadly secret from her backup, and resisting a hot new vamp suitor.
Rachel must also take a stand in the war that's raging in the city's underworld, since she helped put away its former vampire kingpin - and made a deal with a powerful demon to do so that could cost her an eternity of pain, torment, and degradation.
And now her dark "master" is coming to collect his due.

Rachel is at it again with her risky personality and awesome partners. Although I like this series so far, there are (like in the last book) some things that pushed my buttons. Rachel is still a kick ass heroine and she is still dealing with the aftermath of putting Pascary behind bars.

What Rachel is not is a person that deals well with her problems. She can help many people with their problems (that’s why she is a runner after all) but when it comes to her personal life she suck at how to handle it.

I just hope that this books don’t turn out to be one of those series where the main character is whoreish and ends with a different man every other book just to finish the series with one of the ones at the beginning.

Like always Janx is my pixie and she better grovel at his tiny feet all of next book. And can someone please tied Rachel down and not let her out of their sight. By the end of every book she is more screwed than how she started.

THERE'S A FOX IN THE HENHOUSE
Inheriting the most notorious house of ill repute in Texas can spell trouble for a girl's reputation... especially when she's Elizabeth Murphy, Bramble's prim and proper librarian. Yet when she discovers a buck-naked cowboy handcuffed to a four-poster bed, she forgets all about the town gossips. Elizabeth has sworn off men, but the stranger's kisses melt her resolve faster than ice cream on a hot summer day.
Waking up in Miss Hattie's Henhouse isn't how Brant Cates reckoned on getting to the bottom of his great-granddaddy's murder. The plan was to solve the centuries-old crime, then get the heck out of Dodge. But after meeting Elizabeth and discovering that the buttoned-up beauty is a sexy siren in disguise, he just can't pull himself away.
Now Brant needs Elizabeth to finally put his past to rest, but is she willing to risk her future on Bramble's newest bad boy?

And this is why I love cowboys. There is something very appealing about a hard man that goes soft for and only for the right woman. Also about the way that they don't want to admit their feelings aloud but in their head, they're dying.

With Brant, we see this and also the struggle he goes through with accepting that tragedies are part of life and not a myth as if a family curse.

I wouldn't have guessed what really happened to his great-grandfather, or more specifically who, in a million years. Some other parts were easy to guess like Minnie and Lizzie's part.

Overall this was a great story and I can't wait to read Beau's! In the meantime, I'll start reading the first book on the series.

Yes, I know. But it's not the first time I start a series in the middle or end...

Grace's Mail Order Husband
by Kate Whitsby
Series: Texas Prairie Brides (#1)
Published by: Gold Crown Press
November 14th, 2014
Genre: Historical Romance
Format: Audiobook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 2 Stars

Grace Montgomery works as a maid at the Double A Ranch in the far north Texas Panhandle. Her life would be happy if not for Florence Abbot, the daughter of Acton Abbot, the wealthy ranch owner. Does Florence really take a special delight in tormenting Grace, or does it only appear that way? The haughty and spoiled prairie princess drives Grace to distraction with her constant complaints and demands. Grace's only friend is Abigail Doering, who rents a cottage on the ranch and gives piano lessons to the pampered Florence and other students from the nearby town of Borger.
Grace's life flies into a whirlwind of chaos, however, when she arranges to marry a mail-order husband. Florence can't stand the idea of Grace getting married when she doesn't even have any prospects. The sons of other wealthy ranchers, whom her father considers worthy matches for her, won't have anything to do with her. They all know her reputation for being demanding and impossible to please.
The worst part, though, comes when Florence finds out that Grace's mail-order groom is none other than Bad Bill Bailey, the notorious gunslinger and accused murderer. Did old Mr. Abbot really give him the job of horse breaker on the ranch, to move in and marry Grace? Florence sets her mind to foil their wedding plans, and to see Bill Bailey put away for good. Will Grace find happiness in this tempest of personalities? Is her new husband really a dangerous outlaw, or is Florence mistaken about his past and his future on the ranch? Will Florence destroy Grace's only chance for love, or will Grace prove everyone wrong by claiming her right to happiness?

I was looking for cowboy reads for a reading challenge and I found this set of books on the digital library (hoopla for those curious people, which I highly recommend) and decided to give it a try. Now mind you I read a lot of "mommy porn" but that doesn't mean I haven't read books that are "clean" romance. I like any kind of read as long as it is well written.

Problem one with this book is that it had too much going on for such a short story. I would have liked it if the author had taken a little more time on the world building and also if she had built on tension. The characters meet that one day the book starts in, get married and the book ends the next day.

Problem number two, Florence. She was such a shallow ungrateful lady. She treated Grace like dirt for no apparent reason and then she threw her out of her house without an explanation.

Next problem is that the book was so predictable it made it unenjoyable since it was such a short read. Add to that the fact that I didn't like the narrator and you have a bomb of a mess in my book.

Like I've mentioned I don't mind the "clean" romance books (I read YA books that have no"porn" in them and I've enjoyed them) but this one was a no-go for me.

     A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
     A competition...
He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting...
Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I've ever met in my life.
He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I've never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong—but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents...
But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.
I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.
If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

What can I said about this book, IT'S AN AMAZING BRILLIANT NOVEL! Can please male readers take this as an example or at least read it, so this way you will understand why women like to read this. Gentlemen's knows your biggest enemy ever. Katy Evans, I don’t know what were you thinking -well I know what were you thinking- but girl you seriously put on paper most girls and boys wet dreams.

This novel is HOT, HOT, HOT.

I love Remy. He’s not just a star, he’s the whole freaking universe to me. He’s the sun and every planet in this galaxy and others too. When the author starts describing Remy, OMG, can I ask one for Christmas, is something like you can stop reading. I just (how you can write to describe the way the author describes him, nothing compares) can describe him as hot, hot and hotter. Can I get his babies?

Do you guys have a list of books boyfriends or other cases girlfriends (ujumm I do have one, in case you are wondering, so I am pretty sure you do too), he went to the top along with my Rey’aziel Farrow (Dreamy Sigh).

About Brooke, I hated her, Nah, just kidding, this is my jealousy talking. She is the classic cliche girl and a little bit more. Let back to talk about Remy, she doesn't deserve any thought from me. Ok ok, let talk about her, but just a little bit. She describes how she sees Remy and how she tries to fight back. Honestly, jokes and jealousy apart, I will do the same. I really liked it the way she stopped everything because otherwise, she will be another one on his list (Self-respect before anything). There is so much sexual tension between them in the hole novel.

After of course, they are together you can breathe again clearly, like literally. They share a perfect chemistry. You can feel it very deep in inside your skin.

Katy, I love you and what you did was amazing. My recommendation for you its dump (not literally, but if you insist, in that case, we always accept donations), but seriously drop everything and jump straight to this book. This is 200% recommended and the other books as well.

Evelynn Marston didn’t mean to burn down the science room. A little anger, some flames, and an expulsion later, Evie finds herself destined to spend the rest of her high school years at Despaign Academy—named for Connecticut’s last convicted witch.
Despite its shadowy past, Despaign has the same cliques as other schools, and Evie struggles to fit in and to be noticed by the handsome and mysterious Dylan Fox—that is, until she casts her first spell.
But even in a magical place, evil lurks. When Evie’s friend, Laurie Silver, turns up dead, Evie must rely on all her newfound powers and friends to find the truth. But bringing a killer to justice may require stronger magic and true love, the kind that can’t be found in a potion.

I really liked the premises of this story but I got confused. Was Evelynn a witch or not. From the beginning of the book, you get a lot of mixed signals from what her grandmother's telling of what she is to her uncle's scientific explanations but never concrete proof that she wields magic.

Aside from that, I found the book interesting. Evie is a teen with teen problems and a kickass best friend that is unruffled by the notion that she might have powers. I liked how the mystery involving Lauren's death was developed and I have to say I did not see that one coming.

As for the "romance" aspect of the book, I am so annoyed! Why do all these flipping books have to have a love triangle? I was not on board with this Dylan dude from the beginning and I hope she ends up with the other guy. He is so into her and she into him, but like always they are so clueless!

Anyways, I will be reading the next book to see what happens next and see if it unfolds how I'm hoping.

Princess Menshikov of Oxenburg, Alexandra Romanovin, is done being courted by men interested only in her position and wealth. Inspired by tales told by a beloved tutor of the bold and brawny men of Scotland, Alexandra visits that misty land, hoping to find true love. But while traveling without the protection of her royal name, she finds herself accused of thievery by an angry innkeeper. Rescued by the dashing and handsome Earl of Kintore, she thinks she’s found the answer to her prayers—a man worth falling in love with.
But Kintore has other ideas. An avowed bachelor who long ago swore off marriage, the earl wants nothing more than a passionate interlude with this beautiful, exotic stranger. But soon Alexandra’s intoxicating beauty and seductive touch leave Kintore wondering if a mere interlude will be enough...

This was a cute short story.

What I liked about this story was that Alexandra decided to be brave enough and get a man on her own that didn't want her for her money. She showed a strength of character and didn't let Kintore bully her into giving up on what she wanted.

Kintore for his part gave it a good fight but in the end, his heart won out and he couldn't resist the call when it came. It was absolutely heartwarming when he burst into the drawing room.

What I didn't like was the fact that the duchess knew what had happened between them? It was presumptuous of her. I also got mad when the innkeeper accused Alexandra of theft. I know those times were different but really? Even a low-class like her should have noticed the fine linen of her cloth.

Aside from that, I liked the story a because even if it's part of a series it stands on it's own if you don't mind insta-love.

Ryder Wilson returned from serving multiple deployments but can't leave the hell of combat behind him. Frustrated and ashamed of his inability to function in the world as well as the veterans he served with, he retreated, choosing to engage only with those he trusted. When retired Master Sergeant Adam Montague sends him on a mission to protect his sister from some unknown danger, Ryder's days of hiding out may be over. Can he fulfill his mission without failing again?
Megan Gallagher has two big-brother Marines bent on protecting her from the evils of the world, but she's tougher than they think. When her older brother sends Ryder, one of his recon Marines, to her doorstep in the wee hours one night following a break-in, she realizes he needs rescuing more than she does. A friendship forms quickly, but unexpected passions run hot and complicate her resolve never to have a romantic relationship, much less marriage. So why are her body and her heart betraying her every time he comes near?
Can these two wounded people lower their defenses long enough to allow love to grow?

I find myself with mixed feelings about this book. I love the story and how Megan helped Ryder and all the romantic things Ryder did with Megan. But even if it's being a while I remember that the previous books have more context to them and the time frame is longer. This story was just too insta for me. And it also leaves you wanting more of the BDSM aspect of things.

Ryder like every Marine character from previous books served in Fallujah under Adam's command and has PTSD from that mission. Megan is Adam's half-sister and she knows how to deal with PTSD since her other brother is also a Marine that has served in the war and came home with night terrors.

The characters don't have much interaction with others and that is in part what makes it cute and romantic but it is also what makes it such a fast-paced read that leaves you wanting more. I guess this also has to do with the fact that this characters were not introduced in previous books but were just mention in passing.

I hope to have better luck with the next book since is one of the couples I've been looking forward the most.

Gwennore has a talent. An Elf able to track down the cause of an illness and heal it, she’s a valuable asset to her people. When the kidnapping of a young girl thrusts Gwennore into the very heart of the realm of the dragons, she discovers not only a place of power and magic, but also a haunted land, plagued by an ancient curse that all but ensures extinction to the royal family. But when she meets the smoldering General Silas Dravenko, they strike a bargain—save the country from its cursed illness, and he will return the kidnapped girl. She’s been raised never to trust a dragon, but never did making a deal with the devil feel so good…
Silas has no way of curing the family he’s loyally served for years. But when a beautiful elf, long considered the enemy of the dragons, comes bursting into his world, Silas is awakened to passion and desire in a way he’s never felt before. But can he trust a sworn enemy to save the very existence he holds dear? And can their love survive those that threaten to tear them apart?

Disclaimer:

This copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of it or the content of my review.

Of all the sisters Gwennore is perhaps the only one that can determine her ancestry just by looking at herself because of her pointed ears. She hails from Woodwyn where the elves rule. Because of how the elves are, that they attack with no visible reason; they attack and don't take gold or food; they are the most hated of all the kingdoms and because of it, they are seen as savages. And so Gwen is judge by this and thought of no better than her race.

While trying to prevent Lucianna's daughter from being kidnapped by a dragon she is taken too. Her gift as an Embraced lets her read peoples health and what is causing their illness so when she discovers that the queen is been poisoned she is coerced by the general of the Norveshki army to help him prove that what is happening in the kingdom is not a curse but has a logical explanation.

Silas Dravenko is a member of one of the Three Cursed Clans and is about the only one that doesn't believe in the curse but can't find a way to prove it without it been said that he is succumbing to the madness of the curse. When Gwen confirms his suspicions he cannot let her go without having her help him prove what he already knows.

This so far is my favorite couple. The chemistry between this characters is off the charts and it is not just the insta lust/love but the way the couple, especially Silas, make fun of each other. I also think it has to do with the fact that although innocent in the ways of men Gwen is not naive. She knows people can and will be prejudiced and cruel.

I also like the fact that the bad guy has a purpose. He is not just the bad guy on this book but on the two previous and I'm guessing of the next ones too. He is not just there to create angst but to move the story along and to connect all the stories too with one common goal. We also get an expanded view as to why the Chameleon does what he does giving more substance to the enemy of all kingdoms.

I am loving this series more and more with each page and I can't wait for the next one and what else Kerrelyn Sparks has in store for these women and their men. I just hope that Maeve ends up with Brody. I just love them together and I can't wait to see her reaction when she finds out Julia is a boy!

The Good, the Bad and the Undead
by Kim Harrison
Series: The Hollows (#2)
Published by: Tantor Media Inc.
November 29th, 2007
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Format: Audiobook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 4 Stars

Rachel Morgan's back, and in more trouble than ever! Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton and other vampire novels won't want to miss the second novel in Kim Harrison s addicting--and already bestselling--supernatural series.
Former-bounty-hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She's left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She s survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend-what more could a witch want?
But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it s cracked up to be, particularly when your roommate s very bad ex-boyfriend wants her back, and wouldn't mind you in the process. And especially when he s six feet of sheer supernatural seduction, and you've got a demon mark that makes vampires literally hotter than hell....
To save herself and Ivy, Rachel must confront the vampire master-and the dark secrets she s hidden even from herself.

Following the life of witch Rachel Morgan we go back to the Hollows and the misfortune that follows her after quitting the IRS (Inderlander Runner Service). A while has passed since the last book and Rachel is now in a relationship with Nick and things are still sketchy with Ivy.

There are some revelations in this book that left me in shock and I just can't cope with it. I was sad that Ivy could do something like that. She is one of my favorite characters. I just hope things get resolved soon and that trust can be gain.

Like always I am in love with Janx(?) the pixie. I would just have liked for Madalina to make an appearance. I love her too and I think that she complements her husband with her calm demeanor and patience.

I again loved  Marguerite Gavin's job narrating this story although there were times when she sounded stuffy nosed. I guessed she was sick? But overall one of my favorite narrators.

I cannot wait to see what else is in store for these characters and I hope I don't get disappointed with what I want to happen versus what will happen.
