Foster Stewart knows she's different. Her life has never been "normal." Talking to plants and controlling cloud formations aren't things most seventeen-year-olds are into. Tate "Nighthawk" Taylor is perfect. Star quarterback and all around dreamy boy next door he never thought about his "extra" abilities. What quarterback wouldn't want night vision? That's not weird, right? It's cool!
But on the night of their first meeting, a deadly tornado brings them together and awakens their true abilities - the power to control the element air. Unbeknown to Tate and Foster, they are the first in a group of teens that were genetically manipulated before birth to bond with the elements. Which truly sucks for Foster, as she has to face the fact that Dr. Rick Stewart, her beloved scientist father, betrayed her and now wants to use her and the others for his own nefarious world domination plot.
Foster and Tate must stop Dr. Stewart and his minions before he destroys their lives and the world.

I requested this book because I remembered enjoying the HoN series by this mother-daughter duo.

Although I did enjoy the story and the images throughout the book I didn't feel that attraction to reading the hell out of this book like I did the HoN.

I will say that the premiss of the story and what is going on with the characters powers and abilities is interesting. Maybe is the first book syndrome or it might just be that I wasn't in the mood to read a book like this at the moment so I will be watching for the next book in the series and see how that goes.

I did buy myself a copy of the book because like I said it has some interesting images that go with the story and I really liked that.

Werewolf SWAT Officer Jayden Brooks has yet to meet The One—but when he rescues teacher Selena Rosa from a hostage situation at her high school, he knows he’s in trouble. Her scent is irresistible.
There’s a reason for that powerful scent—and it isn’t an expensive perfume. Thanks to the traumatizing events at the school, the werewolf gene flipped on and Selena’s going through the change. Even scarier, she’s on track to become an omega—an out-of-control and violent breed. It’s going to take everything Brooks has if he wants any chance to pull her back from the edge…and ultimately win her heart.

This is the eighth installment of the SWAT series by Paige Tyler and I have to say that I am in love with this books. I first started reading this series because of the name of the series. I found it funny that Paige was able to use the SWAT acronym and give it a completely different definition at the same time that the characters are from a SWAT team. Add to that the fact that when I started reading this series I found that these wolves don't change from being bitten and I was hooked.

This one follows Jayden, the biggest of the teammates and Selena, a teacher on the bad part of town. Like every one of the previous books, you get a before scene where we see the event that made one of the main characters become a werewolf; in this case Jayden. Then you get to understand a little more about the wolves after Selena is threatened by a gangbanger looking to recruit from the students of her class.

With every book, we get deeper into the world of the wolves and we get to discover more things that have been happening behind the scene that even the wolves themselves didn't know about. The way that things the SWAT have been investigating come to light and how that discovery leads to more questions and problems keeps this stories going and gives a fresh canvas for each book is another reason why I love this series so much.

I love the action in this books (this one having the prison scene amongst others) and the shocking realizations and even when I know the outcome of some things the story is written so well that I don't mind. I also like how every story is different and how all the characters come from different places physically, mentally and by circumstance.

Every book has me hooked to it from beginning to end and by the end the next teammate to get their HEA is so well incorporated to the story that you can't wait for the next one and obviously I can't wait for it.

     Dreams don’t die.
Can an amputee bartender help an abused woman reclaim her dreams?
Garrett’s dreams could have ended with the loss of his leg. Yet he’s behind the bar, working towards his own restaurant—and someone to share his life with.
Lilah forgot how to dream. Years of abuse left her feeling worthless. A chance meeting stirs a longing for more, but Garrett can’t help her reclaim her dreams—she’s got to do that on her own.
Will Lilah share her dreams with Garrett? Or will her past destroy them?

This is a cute short story of self-discovery and acceptance that I found I liked.

Lilah is in an abusive relationship. Garrett sees that and tries to help her even when she's in denial and puts herself down. Lilah and Garrett have both been through some painful pasts and I think they are perfect for each other.

What I would have liked was for the author to delve deeper into the character's lives and their backgrounds. We get this small stories of how they got where they are and how they felt at the moment but not much else. Then we have the characters meet on one or two occasions and then they don't see each other for almost a year.

In between, there is nothing letting us know what they've been up to or how they're doing. There is no time for readers to connect with the characters and that is why I gave it 3 stars. It was a likable and entertaining story but not something I'll remember in a few days.

She’s all the wolf he’ll ever need
When SWAT Officer Max Lowry meets Lana Mason, he falls fast and hard. He’s positive she’s The One. And Max’s favorite part? Lana’s a wolf shifter too, so they can skip the awkward reveal and head straight to the happily ever after. There’s just one problem: Lana doesn’t know that she’s a werewolf.
To make matters worse, hunters with intent to kill have tracked Lana to Dallas. Max has to figure out how to keep Lana safe, show her who and what she really is—and just how much she means to him.

This review is a little late but it doesn’t take away from the fact that I loved this story just as much as I’ve loved every one of the previous books in the series.

Max Lowry, the youngest wolf in the SWAT team, finds his One when attending a DPD awards ceremony. She is a wolf just like him, trouble is she doesn't know it. Lana for her part is attracted to Max and wants to spend a lot of time with him but her father, deputy chief in charge of the tactical teams, doesn’t want her to.

Like every book in the series, this one took the span of less than a week but there is so much going on that it feels like much more time. I love the way Max was trying to handle the situation and trying to determine if Lana really didn’t know what she was.

There were a lot of holy guacamole moments, what with the hunters and the shootings and stuff, that had me glued to my kindle and had me cursing people for making me do my job and not leaving me alone!

This thing with the hunters is reaching critical points and I can’t wait to see what else is there for the SWAT guys to deal with. I hope the next one is Zane or at least that I don’t have to wait a lot for his story. I want to know what will happen to him after everything he went through in this book.

Burn Bright

Mated werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham face a threat like no other--one that lurks too close to home...
They are the wild and the broken. The werewolves too damaged to live safely among their own kind. For their own good, they have been exiled to the outskirts of Aspen Creek, Montana. Close enough to the Marrok's pack to have its support; far enough away to not cause any harm.
With their Alpha out of the country, Charles and Anna are on call when an SOS comes in from the fae mate of one such wildling. Heading into the mountainous wilderness, they interrupt the abduction of the wolf--but can't stop blood from being shed. Now Charles and Anna must use their skills--his as enforcer, hers as peacemaker--to track down the attackers, reopening a painful chapter in the past that springs from the darkest magic of the witchborn...

Anna and Charles' books are ones that I like a bit more than the Mercy Thompson's series books only by the fact that it is told in third person. Aside from that, I love both series as Mrs. Briggs puts this characters thru the wringer and then some.

Charles receives a call from one of the wildlings (Bran's more damaged of werewolves) to come help. He and Anna are then racing against time to find out what is going on and who's fault it is. There is a traitor on the pack and they have to uncover him/her before they can find what they're looking for.

The beginning of the book was slow and gave some information that I think was more to fill out the pages than it was part of the story plot but once Charles and Anna got to their destination the story picked up and it was one oh sh*t moment after the other.

I find the way Brother Wolf is evolving very intriguing and I hope that it develops into something that will give us more plots, twists, and turns than just wanting to communicate with Anna.
