     WELCOME TO HELL
The prison ship Perdition, a floating city where the Conglomerate’s most dangerous criminals are confined for life, orbits endlessly around a barren asteroid.
Life inside is even more bleak. Hailed as the Dread Queen, inmate Dresdemona “Dred” Devos controls one of Perdition’s six territories, bordered on both sides by would-be kings eager to challenge her claim. Keeping them at bay requires constant vigilance, as well as a steady influx of new recruits to replace the fallen. Survival is a constant battle, and death is the only escape.
Of the newest convicts, only one is worth Dred’s attention. The mercenary Jael, with his deadly gaze and attitude, may be the most dangerous criminal onboard. His combat skill could give her the edge she needs, if he doesn’t betray her first. Unfortunately, that’s what he does best. Winning Jael’s allegiance will be a challenge, but failure could be worse than death…

This was a very interesting read. We have this bunch of criminals that love a good fight but that have banded together to defend their territory in the hopes of having at least a good night's sleep and a meal.

Dred is a great ruler that helps these convicts with their desires for fighting by hosting rivalry matches and other methods that keep the men occupied and out of their heads for a while. When new "fish" come along the different territories vie for the chance to recruit new and able bodies to help defend the territory.

This was a very interesting story because every character, including the main couple, is a criminal.

I liked the story and the characters. I liked the plot and its twists. I think the author did an excellent job with this story and how all of the details fell into place. I do have to say that I did not expect that ending and I can't wait to see what comes next for this lot. I have never rooted so hard for criminals like I've done with this book.

In Howling for You, Jeff Christopher is a shapeshifter and all of Chicago's Cadogan House of Vampires. For a long time, Jeff had eyes only for the beautiful Fallon Keene. Unfortunately, she is the only sister of the lethal North American Central Pack Apex Gabriel Keene. But fate takes a hand when the pack's totem is stolen, and Fallon enlists Jeff's help to retrieve it before the pack is thrown into chaos. Can she and Jeff find the totem and restore order before it's too late? And will Jeff finally be able to prove himself to the only person he truly loves?
In Lucky Break, Merit and Ethan are in desperate need of some alone time, but their attempt at a romantic getaway is quickly interrupted when one of Ethan's vampire friends shows up at their door - covered in blood and accused of killing her shifter husband. Now, Merit and Ethan must put their passion on pause to figure out who's really responsible for the murder before all hell breaks loose...

Jeff! I got me some sexy Jeff Christopher story!

I have to say that Jeff is most definitively my favorite secondary character in these stories. He is cute, charming, and hella genius and funny. I was so happy when he got together with Fallon although there was something to their story that was hinted at but never mentioned as to why they weren't together. But then they were and I needed more on that story.

Well, I got it and I have to say that I loved every second of their HEA.

We also get a second part to this book in which Merit and Ethan want to go on a vacation away from the Chicago drama and are invited to the guest house of one of Ethan's longtime friends. But when they get there is not for a romantic getaway but to solve a mystery of murder.

I liked the insight of what might have started the feud between the vampires and the werewolves (or at least a fraction of it) and what sacrifices these two races are willing to make to be happy with each other. It also gives me a look-see of what Eliza and Connor might go thru on the spin-off.

Vampires generally aren’t afraid of things that go bump in the night, but Merit and Ethan are extra jumpy after a recent attack by a dark sorcerer. So when they learn that someone is messing with graves in Chicago’s cemeteries, stealing skulls and snatching souls, they fear that their powerful foe might be back for even more magical vengeance.
But after a specter begins haunting Cadogan House—and targeting vampires—they realize that their being taunted by an altogether different sort of monster. A ghoulish villain straight out of the Windy City’s urban legends is on the prowl—and he won’t stop until he’s killed again...

When I started this story I was very happy that I got to see more of the necromancer. When she first appeared she was pregnant but in this story, she already had her daughter and she is not happy that someone is disturbing graves and so she calls Merit and Ethan.

What I like about this story is that you get some more insight into the captain on Cadogan House's head of security (sorry I can't recall his name at the moment). I like Merit thought his room was going to be all western and stuff.

We also get to meet some Ghostbuster types and boy do they spell trouble. I wouldn't have imagined anything that happens but I should have. Is not like this is a novel to stretch out the mystery.

Merit, Sentinel of Chicago's Cadogan House, is pregnant. She's ready to meet her daughter, but also very excited about the possibility of seeing her feet again. But trouble always seems to find her...
Ethan and Merit have been married for eight months, and they're preparing for life-with-baby. Ethan's battling his overprotectiveness, while Merit's hoping she can figure out how to be a loving parent given her family's chilliness.
While out on an evening walk, Merit stops to help a human in need, only to find herself under attack. A sociopath with a debt figures pregnant Merit is an easy target--and Cadogan House would pay handsomely for her return...

This is a nice view of some of Merit's pregnancy. But what I really liked about this book was the side story of Jonas and Cadogan's House cook (who I can't remember the name of at this moment).

I was always rooting for the side characters to find someone to love or to end up with whomever they had a crush on. I am glad I got to see why Margery? Margaret? wasn't open to Jonas' interest and that she was able (with the help of the Cadogan House and all the vampires she loves) to get thru it and find her true love.

I also was glad to see into that intimate moment in which Ethan and Merit decided on baby Eliza's name. It was very touching and I think it was about time that Ethan had something good happen to him.

In the first thrilling installment of Chloe Neill's spinoff to the New York Times best-selling Chicagoland Vampires series, a new vampire will find out just how deep blood ties run. As the only vampire child ever born, some believed Elisa Sullivan had all the luck. But the magic that helped bring her into the world left her with a dark secret. Shifter Connor Keene, the only son of North American Central Pack Apex Gabriel Keene, is the only one she trusts with it. But she's a vampire and the daughter of a Master and a Sentinel, and he's prince of the Pack and its future king.
When the assassination of a diplomat brings old feuds to the fore again, Elisa and Connor must choose between love and family, between honor and obligation, before Chicago disappears forever.

What I love about this book is that even though it's set in the Chicagoland Vampires world it has a completely different tone from that series.

Elisa, who is Merit and Ethan's daughter, has been struggling with a secret that only Connor "stupid" Keene knows about.

On top of that there has been a murder and the only suspect doesn't remember killing. Now it's up to her to find the killer before an innocent man pays the price.

I really like this story as it is different from Merit's adventures. There are also some "futuristic" details that kind of threw me but then it is set in like 2030 or so. Still, in Chloe Neill's fashion, I enjoy the heck out of this book.

I cannot wait for the next one and see how Connor and Elise's relationship evolves.

Lena Todd is the perfect spy. Nobody suspects the flirtatious debutante could be a rebel against London's vicious elite—not even the ruthless Will Carver, the one man she can't twist around her little finger.
Will Carver is more than man; he's a verwolfen, and he wants nothing to do with the dangerous beauty who drives him to the very edge of control. But when he finds Lena in possession of a coded letter, he realizes she's in a world of trouble. To protect her, he'll have to seduce the truth from her before it's too late.

This is the third steampunk book that I've read and I have to say that I liked it, especially this series because it has paranormal elements.

In this book, we have Lena who is the sister of the heroine from the first book who, after the events of the first book, decided that she wanted to go back to the Echelon to look for someone to take her as their thrall.

And Will, who is I'd say the Bodyguard of the hero of the first book. He has had strong reactions to Lena and so she was sent away to help him behave.

After a year of being separate, there are things bringing them together even when they try to avoid it. Lena, unbeknownst by her sister, gave up her dream of being a thrall after just a few weeks within the Echelon. And now she is helping a secret society that wants human equality.

I really like this series and I cannot wait to read the next one. The way Bec McMaster has interwoven the different plots within the books making them flow from one book to the other it is something that grabs my attention because even if the books are connected they can be read by themselves.

Since the night of her brutal attack and unwilling transformation into a vampire, Merit has stood as Sentinel and protector of Chicago's Cadogan House. She's saved the Windy City from the forces of darkness time and again with her liege and lover, Ethan Sullivan, by her side.

When the House is infiltrated and Merit is attacked by a vampire who seems to be under the sway of dark magic, Merit and Ethan realize the danger is closer than they could have imagined. As malign sorcery spreads throughout the city, Merit must go to war against supernatural powers beyond her comprehension. It is her last chance to save everything - and everyone - she loves.

And so we get to the final chapter for this vampire warrior and her amazing adventures.

In this book again Merit has to fight the evil alchemist although in this one the lady is way crazier.

After many years trying to convince humans to work together and have peace between the two races, human and supernaturals, they are finally able to at least work with them.

I love every moment of action in this book and the entire series and I think it was the perfect ending even when I wanted to have something more happen. I don't know what but something.

As the Chicagoland Vampires series continues, Merit and Ethan find themselves in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, where winning may require the ultimate sacrifice...
     A vampire’s grudges don’t stay dead long...
Merit is one of Chicago's most skilled vampire warriors; these days, she doesn't scare easily. But she and Master vampire Ethan have made a new and powerful enemy, and he won't give up until he owns the Windy City.
With his last plan thwarted, he's more determined than ever to watch Cadogan burn. Ethan has put the House's vampires on high alert, but their enemy will stop at nothing, including pitting vampire against vampire...
In this deadly game of cat-and-mouse, the stakes are life or death—and winning might mean sacrificing everything...

Again one of the things I like about this series is that once they deal with an enemy that enemy not just disappear. It is an enemy that spans a couple of books.

In the previous book Merit, Ethan and all of their friends deal with a powerful man on Chicago and thwart his plan. Now he is back and more dangerous than ever.

Another thing that I like about this series is that although it has been a year since Merit was turned into a vampire it feels like so much more time has gone by.

The end of this series is coming and although I am sad about it I feel like it is time to end it. Not because it is a bad series but because I feel like if it is extended much more than it is at this point people will start to hate it.

A vampire never gets old. But neither do his enemies. When a figure from Ethan's dark past makes a splashy debut in Chicago, Merit and her Master don't know whether he's friend or foe. But they'll have to figure out soon, because trouble is brewing in the Windy City.
At an exclusive society soiree attended by the upper echelons of the human and supernatural worlds, Merit and Ethan barely stop the assassination of a guest. When the target turns out to be a shady businessman with a criminal edge, Merit suspects a human vendetta. But the assassins have fangs...
The connections to Chicago's Houses go deeper than Merit knows, and even one wrong move could be her last...

Again some time has passed since the ending of the last book in which Ethan and Merit found a letter in their room signed by Ethan's maker.

In this book we find out who Balthazar is and what happened to him after he was attack and presumed dead.

Again it is Merit's job as Sentinel of house Cadogan to make sure that the master is safe. Which is why she needs to find out what is going on and why Balthazar is still alive.

One of the things that I like about these books is that the same enemy keeps coming back again and again until they have completely defeated it. I also like that all the books are connected. There is always something happening that takes you back to previous books.

I love all the characters and how they get together when the need arises to protect their family and friends. I cannot wait to read the next book and see what else is in store for this vampires.

While Merit didn’t choose to become a vampire or Sentinel of Cadogan House, she vowed to fight for her House and its Master, and she’s managed to forge strong alliances with powerful supernaturals across Chicago. But even though Merit has had wild adventures, this may be her deadliest yet...
A killer is stalking Chicago, preying on humans and leaving his victims with magical souvenirs. The CPD hasn’t been able to track the assailant, and as the body count rises, the city is running out of options. Vampires and humans aren’t on great terms, but murder makes for strange bedfellows. Can Merit find the killer before she becomes a target?

So confession time, I completely forgot that I had read this book so this review is quite late. I have forgotten a couple of things that happened in the book.

I know that it is a couple of weeks after the events of the previous book and Darius is being manipulated into stealing money from the GP. Merit and Ethan kind of figure out what is going on and they have to go deeper into what is going on to see how Darius is being manipulated.

There is obviously a lot of investigating and I do remember something like an opal or some kind of round black stone being used.

The only thing that I do remember about the book is that there's a lot of action like every other book in this series. And I do remember enjoying listening to the audiobook.

I really cannot recommend this series enough. Either because of Chloe Neill's writing style or Sophie Eastlake's narration, you can't go wrong either way.

Since Merit was turned into a vampire, and the protector of Chicago’s Cadogan House, it’s been a wild ride. She and Master vampire Ethan Sullivan have helped make Cadogan’s vampires the strongest in North America, and forged ties with paranormal folk of all breeds and creeds, living or dead…or both.
But now those alliances are about to be tested. A strange and twisted magic has ripped through the North American Central Pack, and Merit’s closest friends are caught in the crosshairs. Gabriel Keene, the Pack Apex, looks to Merit and Ethan for help. But who—or what—could possibly be powerful enough to out-magic a shifter?
Merit is about to go toe to toe, and cold steel to cold heart, to find out.

The supernatural world is at it again, this time with a powerful magic user that is capable of affecting the only supernatural beings that are not easily influenced by magic.

The werewolves are looking to blame someone for the death of their colleagues and since Ethan and Merit are there it is easier to blame them. Gabriel Keene, the alpha Apex, has tasked Merit and Ethan into discovering who is responsible for the magic. They have to do this in order to keep the peace between the werewolves and the vampires.

Again poor Merit has been thrown in the middle of Supernatural problems. She just wants to keep her house and her master safe!

I think Chloe Neill is a genius. She writes a smart and kick-ass heroine that is smart enough to use all her resources and connect all the dots to figure out what the problem is.

I cannot wait to read more about this vampires and see what else is in store for them. I really love Merit and Ethan and I cannot wait to see how that prophecy is going to come true.

Merit has been a vampire for only a short while, but she's already seen a lifetime's worth of trouble. She and her Master, centuries-old Ethan Sullivan, have risked their lives time and again to save the city they love. But not all of Chicago is loving them back.
Anti-vampire riots are erupting all over town, striking vampires where it hurts the most. A splinter group armed with Molotov cocktails and deep-seated hate is intent on clearing the fanged from the Windy City come hell or high water.
Merit and her allies rush to figure out who's behind the attacks, who will be targeted next, and whether there's any way to stop the wanton destruction. The battle for Chicago is just beginning, and Merit is running out of time.

Since the beginning of this series, the vampires of Chicago have been having problems with the humans that are against the supernatural.

In this book you see the humans start to make a move against the supernatural by causing riots. It is Merit's job to help find out who is responsible for these riots and if there is a connection between all the places that have been hit.

One thing that I love about this series is that Merit and Ethan have been together since the beginning or at least they have had a connection. Merit’s not going through men like they are going out of style.

I also love all the action and that Merit is not this powerful vampire that does not need help from anybody. I too like that Merit and Ethan go through problems as a couple like you will see on real life.

I cannot wait to keep reading this series and see what else is in store for this vampires.

In order to save his friend's life, Wyr sentinel Rune Ainissesthai made a bargain with Vampyre Queen Carling—without knowing what she would ask from him in return. But when Rune attempts to make good on his debt, he finds a woman on the edge.
Recently, Carling's Power has become erratic, forcing her followers to flee in fear. Despite the danger, Rune is drawn to the ailing Queen and decides to help her find a cure for the serpent's kiss—the vampyric disease that's killing her.
With their desire for each other escalating just as quickly as Carling's instability spirals out of control, the sentinel and the Queen will have to rely on each other if they have any hope of surviving the serpent's kiss.

In the previous book, Rune promised a favor to the queen of the vampires, Carling, in order for her to save Tiago, his fellow Wyr sentinel. When the queen reaches out to collect he has to tell Dragos about it which does not a happy Wyr make since he is already one sentinel down because Tiago left to live with Tricks.

Rune's job is to make Carling give him the quickest job possible so he can go back to New York and his duties as sentinel. What Rune didn't count on was that he would not be able to leave her once he found out about her disease.

What they didn't count on either was the fact that Rune could travel into Carling's so called hallucinations.

I like these stories but I would like them more if the Wyr in the books supported each other or at least didn't go solo into their missions. If the characters were more united as brothers.

I will definitely be reading more into this series because it is interesting and I'm enjoying every book.

In a city full of vampires, trouble never sleeps.
At the tender age of twenty-seven, Merit became a sword-wielding vampire. Since then, she’s become the protector of her House, watched Chicago nearly burn to the ground, and seen her Master fall and rise. Now she’ll see her mettle—and her metal—tested like never before.
It started with two . . . Two rogues vanishing without a trace. Someone is targeting Chicago’s vampires, and anyone could be next. With their house in peril, Merit and her Master, the centuries-old Ethan Sullivan, must race to stop the disappearances. But as they untangle a web of secret alliances and ancient evils, they realize their foe is more familiar, and more powerful, than they could have ever imagined.

I swear, this series keeps getting better and better with every book I read.

In this installment, the Cadogan house vampires start getting everything ready for the ceremony that will cut their ties to the vampires governing body and trying to form an alliance with the Rogue vampires since the house is going to be rogue themselves after leaving the GP.

While at the party, the de facto leader of the Rogues lets Merit and Ethan know that two of their vampires are missing. In the midst of it all is a new evil that is killing off vampires. It is in the best interest for all vampires, that Merit along with others like her; guardians and soldiers of the houses; put a stop to this new threat.

Merit and Jonah her RG partner along with Ethan and others (umbodies?) race against time and the disappearance of many other vampires to find out who is behind these murders.

I cannot express how much I love this series. This books are packed with action and the mystery behind every act against the supernaturals. The writing of these books is superb and every single detail connects at the end or it is explained so that you don’t wonder at why that particular thing happened. I love the angst that Neill creates and how even as this books concentrate mostly on Merit she is not this super vampire that doesn’t need others to help her solve the problems.

Every time you think you have the bad guy pin down there is a twist and a surprise around the corner.

I especially love the camaraderie between Merit and her fellow Cadogan house guards. I also love that even though they argue a lot and have big fights; like every couple; Merit and Ethan always find a way to each other.

I don't like books that are told in first-person point of view but I don't mind being just in Merit's head. She is constantly trying to figure out what is going on at the same time that she is trying to figure out who is behind all.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see what else is in store for the supernaturals of Chicago.

Turned into a vampire against her will, twenty-eight-year-old Merit found her way into the dark circle of Chicago’s vampire underground, where she learned there was more to supernaturals than met the eye—and more supernaturals than the public ever imagined.
And not all the secrets she learned were for sharing—among humans or inhumans.
Now Merit is on the hunt, charging across the stark American Midwest, tailing a rogue supernatural intent on stealing an ancient artifact that could unleash catastrophic evil on the world. But Merit is also the prey. An enemy of Chicagoland is hunting her, and he’ll stop at nothing to get the book for himself. No mercy allowed.
No rules apply. No lives spared. The race is on.

I love every sentence of every book of this series!

Soon after the events of the previous book Merit and Ethan go on the road to catch the supernatural being that has caused so many troubles and who has escaped in order to get their hands of the ancient artifact full of power that could change the balance between good and evil.

Once they return they have to deal with the governing body of the vampires and the humans too.

I love how Merit goes about fixing all the problems presented to her house and how loyal she is. These books are not always full of action but they all have you at the edge of your seat cheering for the Cadogan house to come out the victor.

I can't wait to see what comes next for this vampires and how Merit will go about looking for a solution.

The evil night things that prowl Cincinnati despise witch and bounty hunter Rachel Morgan. Her new reputation for the dark arts is turning human and undead heads alike with the intent to possess, bed, and kill her—not necessarily in that order.
Now a mortal lover who abandoned Rachel has returned, haunted by his secret past. And there are those who covet what Nick possesses—savage beasts willing to destroy the Hollows and everyone in it if necessary.
Forced to keep a low profile or eternally suffer the wrath of a vengeful demon, Rachel must nevertheless act quickly. For the pack is gathering for the first time in millennia to ravage and to rule. Suddenly, more than Rachel's soul is at stake.

With each book in this series, I get more and more frustrated and wonder if I should even waste my time finishing this series. Which of course I come back with the response that I am one of those people that one started reading a book/series of the same character I just need to finish it.

In this book, Rachel and Jenks go out of Cincinnati to help Jenks son, Jax and Rachel's ex-boyfriend Nick. As the book progresses Rachel gets into an emotional roller coaster that leaves your head spinning and with a huge desire to wack her upside the head.

I have to say that I care not about Rachel and I'm sure I keep reading this series because I want to know what happens to Ivy, Jenks, Kisten and even Trent. I just know that it will be a while before I pick the next book in this series and I just pray I am in an excellent mood to read it.

Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can’t tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city iself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven’t been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.
That’s when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.
Chicago’s mayor insists it’s nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She’ll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who’s behind this, and stop them before it’s too late for vampires and humans alike.

Ms. Neill, you lady are going to kill me with this unexpected twists and turns.

This book picks up two months after the events of the previous book and Merit has to once again act as sentinel of the house and investigate the going of the paranormal world which are not the vampires doings but that affect the vampires in that the human haters blame them because they are the only supernaturals that they know where to find (in a previous book the wolves came out to the public too).

And so to protect her liege and the house that is under scrutiny from the governing body she once again has to work by herself with help from outside sources. In this book, she is tested to the limits of her position and so she has to make some sacrifices that show how serious she takes her responsibility as the sentinel of Cadogan's house.

And again that ending. I suspected the teacher you know because all that shticks about the student not been able to say anything about her classes and stuff. Color me shocked that it was not him. This series keeps getting better and better and I cannot wait to see what comes up next. And Ethan and Merit, I just can’t keep up with all this! You are messing with my head (in a good way) Neill!

Well, I can’t recommend this series enough. Go ahead, read it, I dare you...

Times are hard for newly minted vampire Merit. Ever since shapeshifters announced their presence to the world, humans have been rallying against supernaturals—and they're camping outside of Cadogan House with protest signs that could turn to pitchforks at any moment. Inside its doors, things between Merit and her Master, green-eyed heartbreaker Ethan Sullivan, are tense. But then the mayor of Chicago calls Merit and Ethan to a clandestine meeting and tells them about a violent vamp attack that has left three women missing. His message is simple: get your House in order. Or else.
Merit needs to get to the bottom of this crime, but it doesn't help that she can't tell who's on her side. So she secretly calls in a favor from someone who's tall, dark, and part of an underground vamp group that may have some deep intel on the attack. Merit soon finds herself in the heady, dark heart of Chicago's supernatural society—a world full of vampires who seem to be ready to fulfill the protesting human's worst fears, and a place where she'll learn that you can't be a vampire without getting a little blood on your hands.

This book was one surprise after the other. I couldn’t believe how it ended!

But I’m getting ahead of myself. First, let’s talk about the book. Merit is now tasked with investigating what is going on with a supposed rave gone wrong where vampires attacked people and killed three humans. At the same time, the house has to deal with one of the head honchos that is making all the more difficult because whatever has happened is not the vampire’s problem. And so Merit is working by herself to avoid Ethan getting into more trouble. You know possible deniability and all that chticks.

I loved how Merit dealt with the situation and how she was always true and loyal to Ethan and the house. But I also liked the fact that she had help from others, not just from her own house but from others including the houseless vamps.

Now let’s talk about that ending, don’t worry no spoilers. I did not see that coming! But it does make for an interesting story when you get a twist like that. I am just happy that this series is finished and I don’t have to wait long to see how Chloe Neill fixed that one.

If you have not started this series I highly recommend that you do. Just a warning, be ready to face anything.

Merit, Chicago's newest vampire, is learning how to play well with others. Other supernaturals, that is. Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit.
Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene - and to spy for the vamps while she's at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan's offering some steamy one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.
Merit must accept the assignment even though she knows that she'll probably regret it. And she's not wrong. Someone is gunning for Gabriel Keene, and Merit soon finds herself in the line of fire. She'll need all the help she can get to track down the would-be assassin, but everywhere she turns, there are rising tensions between supernaturals - not least between her and a certain centuries-old green-eyed Master vampire.

So we are back with Merit and all the drama surrounding her and her house. This time the wolves are involved and she has to figure out who is after one of the pack Alphas.

In the previous book, Ethan offered Keene the services of Merit to provide security and of course it is not an "in and out" job. There is an attack on a bar where all the Alpha's are gathered and Merit saves the life of one of the pack and so Gabriel (and some of the pack) are willing to try and at the very least tolerate the vampires. There is, after all, a lot of bad blood between the two races.

Merit and Ethan's relationship evolves and I just want to clobber him. There are some things that can be sacrificed in the name of an alliance but there are others that you shouldn't even consider and Ethan is at the moment on my blacklist. Merit better not bent quickly. He needs to grovel!

With every book, this series keeps getting better and I can't wait to get into the next one.

HIS TREASURE AND HIS OBSESSION...
Despite her longing for the sea, Macy has clung to the safety of land for half her life, devoting herself to her daily routine — until she agrees to go sailing with a childhood friend. Her fears come to fruition when a sudden storm capsizes their boat, rekindling her old terror. She awakens to a rescuer who is anything but human — and he refuses to let her go. Treated like a curiosity and a possession, she's desperate to go home. Yet Macy is undeniably drawn to this strange creature. Can she give up her old life, her family and friends, to embrace this adventure… and Jax?
HER SAVIOR AND HER CAPTOR...
Jax the Wanderer is a hunter, an explorer, and an oddity among his kind. While other kraken are content near their dens, Jax is driven by a deep need to journey far and wide, discovering the unknown corners of the sea. Macy challenges everything he's known; she is the most alluring creature he's ever seen on his travels. He must possess her, though he knows it can only end in disaster. How much is he willing to forsake for the female he desires?

I have been reading Alien romances for a time now (Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon and Brides of the Kindred by Evangeline Anderson to name some) and although Alien in appearance they are humanoid looking. They just have different skin color, or horns, or their equipment has something extra that makes the difference between awesome and explosive, or a combination of all this.

I watch a YouTube video of this blogger that tried this series and she really liked this book, since she and I have kind of the same tastes I decided to try this series too. All I can say is that she was right. This book was really good.

The author did a fantastic job off of this book. Even when you know that alien has tentacles and all she wrote such a fine story that you get so involved and don't remember the hero's lower half is something other than legs until she mentions it again.

I also liked the revelations of how the Kraken came to be and why the humans don't know of their existence and why the Kraken hate/fear them. I found myself rooting for Jax and Macy, and I can't wait to see Macy's friend and Jax's fellow weird Kraken get together.

During the rule of her murderous Dark Fae uncle, Thistle "Tricks" Periwinkle found sanctuary among the Wyr in New York. Her ethereal beauty and sparkling personality won the hearts of the public, but after her uncle's death, there are those who don't want to see her ascend to the throne.
Able to wield thunder and lightning, Wyr sentinel Tiago Black Eagle has ruled the skies for centuries. His massive build and thunderous power make him one of the Wyr's best weapons. And he's sent to protect Tricks when she's almost assassinated in Chicago. Soon, both Tiago and Tricks will fall prey to the stormy hunger that engulfs them - a passion that will shake the very foundation of all the worlds.

At the end of the previous book, Tricks was on her way to the dark fae court to be crowned queen. This book starts a few days later when a recording of Tricks been attacked surfaces on the news and she has gone missing. Dragos then sends Tiago to find her and protect her.

After Tiago finds her hiding on a motel and drags her where she's supposed to be things start to get much more interesting. There is a traitor in the midst of the dark court and they need to figure out who it is before any more innocent people have to die.

From the first moment I met Tiago and Tricks, I fell in love with them and I was very excited to read this book. It was a book packed with action and sexual chemistry. Every sexy scene and every time Tiago exploded with protective instinct was gripping and I wanted more.

I love how the author sets the next book within the story of the current book. I cannot wait to read Rune and Carling's story and see if Kim Harrison gives me as intriguing and compelling a story as the first two books have been. I am also looking forward to reading some of the other characters like Medusa for example.

There's no witch in Cincinnati tougher, sexier, or more screwed up than bounty hunter Rachel Morgan, who's already put her love life and soul in dire jeopardy through her determined efforts to bring criminal night creatures to justice.
Between "runs," she has her hands full fending off the attentions of her blood-drinking partner, keeping a deadly secret from her backup, and resisting a hot new vamp suitor.
Rachel must also take a stand in the war that's raging in the city's underworld, since she helped put away its former vampire kingpin - and made a deal with a powerful demon to do so that could cost her an eternity of pain, torment, and degradation.
And now her dark "master" is coming to collect his due.

Rachel is at it again with her risky personality and awesome partners. Although I like this series so far, there are (like in the last book) some things that pushed my buttons. Rachel is still a kick ass heroine and she is still dealing with the aftermath of putting Pascary behind bars.

What Rachel is not is a person that deals well with her problems. She can help many people with their problems (that’s why she is a runner after all) but when it comes to her personal life she suck at how to handle it.

I just hope that this books don’t turn out to be one of those series where the main character is whoreish and ends with a different man every other book just to finish the series with one of the ones at the beginning.

Like always Janx is my pixie and she better grovel at his tiny feet all of next book. And can someone please tied Rachel down and not let her out of their sight. By the end of every book she is more screwed than how she started.
