Havoc
by Kindle Alexander
Series: Tattoos and Ties Duet
Published by: Author
November 25th, 2018
Genre: GLBTQ Romance
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 2.5 Stars

Keyes Dixon’s life is challenging enough as a full patch member of the Disciples of Havoc Motorcycle Club but being a gay biker leaves him traveling down one tough road. With an abusive past and his vow to the club cementing his future, he doesn’t believe in love and steers clear of commitment. But a midnight ride leads to a chance meeting with a sexy distraction that has him going down quicker than a Harley on ice.
Cocky Assistant District Attorney Alec Pierce lives in the shadow of his politically connected family. A life of privilege doesn’t equal a life of love, a fact made obvious at every family gathering. Driven yet lonely, Alec yields to his family’s demands for his career path, hoping for the acceptance he craves. Until he meets a gorgeous biker who tips the scales in the favor of truth and he can no longer live a lie.
Can two men from completely different worlds…and sides of the law…find common ground, or will all their desires only wreak Havoc?

If I had known this was a duet before starting the book I might have enjoyed it more.

You have on one side Keyes who is a motorcycle club (MC) member. The Disciples of Havoc is not an all together up and up club but they have improved since the olden days. The members of Havoc have been in the eye of the DA for years (which has helped on their being in the "right" path) but something else happened and they get raided by the FBI and ICE.

Enter Alec, who is a lawyer with the DA's office and you get a recipe for disaster and who doesn't love a good forbidden romance story.

This book started strong and I loved it but then I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop as to Key and Alec's forbidden relationship (I mean you know this is not going to seat well with the other members of the club) but nothing was happening.

They've had a relationship for months and nothing happened apart from some small things here and there and the rest was them having sex. Now like I said at the beginning if I'd had known this was a duet I might have realized that their story continues and I wouldn't have been so disappointed after all this was the "getting to know each other" part of the story and where you connect with the characters and such.

It was a great story but not what I was hoping for. I will be reading the second part of their story to see how it ends and since I know what to expect now, hopefully, I'll enjoy it more.

Barbarian's Touch
by Ruby Dixon
Series: Ice Planet Barbarians (#7)
Published by: Author
September 11th, 2018
Genre: Sci-Fi Romance
Format: Audiobook
Source: Library Loan
Rating: 4 Stars

When I wake up on the ice planet, I’m scared of everything: this place is cold, silent, and the locals look more like blue devils than aliens. To make matters worse, one of the strangers decides I’m going to be his girlfriend and kidnaps me away from my sister. I’m completely and utterly alone. What’s a girl to do?
     Well, this girl escapes.
Of course, that means I go from frying pan into the fire, and my situation gets even more dangerous. Just when I have no hope left, a new hero appears. Sure, he’s blue, horned, and has a tail. He’s also fierce, protective, makes me purr...and thinks I'm perfect.
But is what we have real or just a mating instinct?

It's been more than a year since I read the last book on this series so I was a little lost at the beginning but I have enjoyed this book as much as I've enjoyed the previous books on this series.

A couple of books back the aliens that originally kidnapped the girls have come back for them and one of the girls fights back and crashes the ship they are in. About a year has gone by and someone finds part of the ship and realized that there are people in it (or something like that the story goes).

On this book, we get the rescue of the two girls trapped in this cargo section of the crashed ship. This two are blood sisters; Lila and Maddie. After a few kidnappings on previous books, the tribe's chief has forbidden to take any of the humans without their permission, even when they have resonated.

Well, one of these men is desperate enough to not listen to the command and it is up to someone else to go rescue the poor girl that is deaf.

I love how Ruby Dixon surprises me with every book. I mean there are a bunch of girls stuck in a planet with a parasite telling them who they have to mate with, how much can you do with that? It is with a fervent yearning that I start reading these books because Dixon always has a completely new and captivating story for every couple.

If you don't mind your hero's blue-skinned, horned and with a tail, I recommend this series 1000%.

Willa's Beast
by Ruby Dixon
Series: Icehome (#3)
Published by: Author
October 5th, 2018
Genre: Sci-Fi Romance
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 4 Stars

     Beast. Creature. Monster.
     Dangerous.
All of these things have been said about Gren.
Willa doesn’t believe it, though. She knows that monsters can sometimes come in appealing packages. She knows that for all of his snarls and fearsome appearance, he’d never hurt her.
And she knows she has to get Gren away from the Icehome camp, because no one will ever see him as a person, not when he attacks all who come close. Not when he’s tied and treated like an animal.
She’s going to save him… or fall in love. Maybe both. Willa doesn’t mind that he’s a beast, as long as he’s her beast.

This is the third book in the Icehome series and it is in the same timeline as the first two books. As Lauren is drifting in the "sea" and Veronica has been kidnapped by her dragon, Willa helps her beast escape.

This book again takes me back to the beginning of the barbarian books when Georgie met Vektal and they were trying to communicate with each other.

It was a little bit funny but most of all it was heartwarming and heartbreaking because Gren didn't understand that he wasn't a slave anymore.

I fell in love with him and I kept praying for this couple to find a way to understand each other even though you know it's obvious that they will end up together.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this series but first I have to finish the Ice Planet Barbarians series because the couple from the next book come from this community.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
by Mariana Zapata

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: eBook

Rating: 1 Star

Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.
But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked.
For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn't find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He's asking for the unthinkable.
What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

Wow, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, where do I begin...

The book starts with this girl Vanessa, who is the assistant/housekeeper of Aiden, also known as the Wall of Winnipeg, wanting to quit because she has accumulated enough money for her to start her own business. She knew from the beginning that this job was not going to be something permanent; that she had a goal.

Then it goes on to say how she started working for him and doing everything for him and what was expected from her. How she, in the beginning, didn't know anything about the job that she was going to do but she was going to make it work because she needed the money and this job paid really good. Everything after that is Aiden, Aiden, Aiden, the Wall of Winnipeg, Aiden, Aiden, the Wall of Winnipeg, blah blah blah.

I made it about a hundred pages into the book and then I DNF'ed it. Aiden was an ass and Vanessa has a very low opinion of herself for having held on to a job that she was not happy with because she needed the money and because Aiden was a cold bastard.

Then after that, for him to have the gall to ask her for a favor even when she kept saying no, no and no? I really don't know how this book can improve so I'm not going to keep reading it. And I seriously do not understand how this book made it to people's top tens of the year and in some cases even the top one.

Miss Mechanic

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Rating: 3 Stars

Two mechanics. One rivalry.
She’ll prove she’s as good as she says she is.
He’ll prove her place isn’t under the hood.
It’s over it.

“Don’t let the b*****ds get you down.”
For twenty-six years, I lived by my daddy’s motto. Which is why “Mechanic Wanted” is all it takes for me to apply for the job at the garage we once owned.
And I meet the biggest b*****d of them all.
Dexter Ryne. Hotter than Hell in July and a firm believer that my place is on reception, taking phone calls and looking pretty. Not getting dirty under the hood of a car.
Determined to prove each other wrong, we make a deal.
I have three weeks to prove my worth as a mechanic. If I don’t, I’m on telephone duty.
If I do, he’ll accept defeat and make my job permanent.
Now, all I have to do is fight my attraction to the cocky little… beep.
Problem is, an engine isn’t the only thing he knows how to make purr…

I have read Emma Hart a few times and I've loved every one of those reads. This book although a fun and sexy read for some reason I didn't love as much as her other books.

Not to say I didn't like it, I just for some reason was hung up on the fact that there were so many profanities on this read. Don't get me wrong I'm not a prude that can't handle the bad words on my reads, I just was too focused on that fact to actually enjoy the read.

It might be the fact too that I was wondering how the narrators felt about saying them so much, lol.

The story is about this woman Jamie to prove to Dexter that just because she dressed sexy and was very feminine didn't mean she couldn't do her job as a mechanic. That she could do it and do it better than him.

There were many hilarious scenes and some hot scenes too and I am pretty sure I would have enjoyed this book (even give it 4 stars) if I had read it instead of listening to it.

But lesson learned and really anything Emma Hart I recommend it if you are looking for a fun fast flirty read and don't mind the F-bomb being thrown around like it's candy.

Veronica's Dragon
by Ruby Dixon
Series Icehome (#2)
Published by: Author
May 23rd, 2018
Genre: Sci-Fi Romance
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 4 Stars

     Resonance.
It’s a given on the ice planet, forced upon you by the parasitic symbiont called the ‘khui’. With resonance, a guy and a girl are paired up because they’ll make great babies. It’s a survival mechanism necessary for this sparsely-populated world we’re stranded on… and romantic, in a weird, alien way.
Everyone expects resonance to happen when twenty newcomers are dropped onto the frosty world. I doubt anyone expects the gorgeous, golden god named Ashtar to resonate to someone like me, though. He’s fierce. Flirty. Powerful. Disgustingly handsome.
I’m… not any of those things. I’m bland. Boring. Clumsy.
But resonance seems to think we’d be great together. And Ashtar does, too…

What can I say about this book? Well, Ruby Dixon is one of the best (IMO) when writing very alien aliens.

I loved Ashtar and Veronica so much. I have not read Dixon's Fireblood Dragon series yet so this is my first Dragon from her and I will definitely get my hands on that series asap.

This story is told paralleled to Lauren's Barbarian story, the first book of the series. From the moment they are rescued from the slavers' ship and before they get their "cooties" Ashtar is attracted to Veronica and he can't wait for the other's to let down their guard so he can steal her away and be free.

I loved this story and the characters. Veronica is a healer and I was glad to see a new element to these stories (although I haven't yet finished the IPB series so the sa-khui healer might have gotten a story too) and see how the healing is done.

I was very sad that Ashtar still didn't understand that he was truly free and that he didn't have to run away. That the other barbarians respect resonance and that Veronica just wanted to be with him. I did love how very protective of Veronica and how mad he got when she overtaxed herself. It was just plain adorable.

Ruby Dixon, in my opinion, is a master at creating "alieny" looking aliens that you can't help but love. I can't wait for the next story and to continue reading the IPB one.

We are thrilled to be sharing with you the release of BETTING ON HER, the second book in Kelly Collins's Wilde Love series. If you love mafia romance, this is one series you don't want to miss - be sure to grab your copy today!

Welcome back to Wilde country where lies are told and secrets are kept. Too bad what happens in Vegas never stays a secret.
Katya Petrenko’s importance lies in her ability to create strong alliances through marriage. After failing to get the oldest Wilde brother to the altar, Katya is promised to a notorious Russian hitman who has the Wilde’s in his crosshairs. She must choose between loyalty to her family or protecting Matt, the bother who stole her heart years ago. She rolls the dice at the chance to win at love but will Matt be her next losing hand?
Matt Wilde has had his share of troubles. Born into mob life it’s all he knows. After spending the last three years in prison he’s ready to run Old Money Casino legitimately until trouble arrives wearing a red dress. Matt is torn between loving Katya, the woman he knows and hating her for being the daughter of the man who killed his father. When danger threatens to take everything away, will Katya be a safe bet or will he have to go all in to save them both?
Life is a gamble but can two people double down and win at love?

I don't really know what I expected of this book but it blew my mind away just like book one. And like a mention before every "mob" book I've read I've ended either giving it 1-2 stars or DNFing it but this ones I have fallen in love with.

Katya is the ex-fiance of Matt's brother in book one and she is forced to become the fiance of another man that the Russian Bratva has appointed because of her father's carelessness in disposing of the Wilde's father.

Matt has just recently gotten out of jail after been there for several years because he was saving Katya from a mistake she made. This two have held a torch for each other from a very young age and after Alex and Katya got engaged after a deal their parents made Matt decided that distance was the best thing he could do.

Now that the engagement has ended Matt knows he shouldn't get involved with her because he's family is out of the mafia business but when Katya shows up on his doorstep he can't help but get involved.

I felt the connection between the characters and I loved the story. Collins really knows how to make this mafia business work (at least for me) and how to connect all the characters in one way or another.

My only problem with this books are that they are told in first person POV and I don't like it. Other than that I can't wait to read the next book in the series and I'll definitively be looking more into this author's books.

Rating: 2.5 Star

I’ve completely had it with men. I’m done.
And in case you were wondering, book boyfriends aren’t real. I should know because I write them.
My name is Greer Hanson. I think I’ve lost my mojo. After having my heart broken, I can’t seem to write about romance or love. When my best friend and publisher recommends an inspiration vacation, I decide to give it a whirl. What’s the worst that could happen?
Enter the perfect stranger. Patrick Fisher knocks me off my feet with his rugged good looks and charm. After one night with him, the words begin to flow. Since I know I’ll never see him again, I use him as my muse. But what do I do when my fantasy comes to life and that man steps right out of the pages of my book?
Book Boyfriends can’t be real. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself. Am I willing to risk having my heart broken all over again?
Maybe this time reality will be better than fiction.

I have to say that this book almost didn't make it for me. At about 16% into the book, I was contemplating DNFing it but I always try and read 'till 25% before making that decision.

Greer Hanson is a bestselling author on vacation to find her muse back after a nasty divorce left her a broken woman. On her last day there she meets Patrick Fisher who accidentally knocked her down while on a run. He wants to make up for it and keeps trying to get her to go out with him. Things happened and then she gives him her "number" and then she disappears. Forward a couple months and she wrote a book so great that her agent and best friend Luna knows they'll get a movie offer for it.

One of the main problems with this book for me was that it was told in first person POV and if you know me you know I am not a fan of it. So, since we are stuck on Greer's head you get the unabridged version of what is going on. Since she is an author she over thinks everything and over-describes everything else.

After she goes back to California everything gets a bit better in the descriptive nature of the story and we have more characters involved than just her (although it's still 1st person POV from her view). I liked where the story went after she finds Fisher again but again we are stuck in Greer's head so here comes the insecurities and the drama and the trust issues and all that.

I seriously got fed up with her so much but I needed to finish the book if for nothing else than to prove to myself it wasn't so bad. I admit I cried when she open that box but I think the book would have done better if we'd at least gotten another POV aside from hers (even if it was 1st person too).

He’s a gangster going straight. She’s a waitress going bankrupt. Will their gamble on a marriage of convenience pay off in true love?
Alex Wilde desperately wants to be free of the family’s mob business. But when his infamous father is murdered, the family attorney makes a suggestion he can’t ignore: find a bride before the funeral or they'll force a wedding with a nice Russian gangster girl. When he meets a feisty cocktail waitress, he thinks he’s found his way out.
Faye Tandy is desperately in debt and hard-pressed to find help. Alex’s offer of a phony marriage for a ton of cash couldn’t come at a better time and she’s happy to help him exit the criminal world. The fact that he’s tall, dark, and handsome is an attractive bonus. But when she discovers the Russians have a contract out on her head, she wonders if divorced and bankrupt would be a better choice than rich and dead...
As Faye’s fake feelings for Alex turn real, she’s terrified her trip to the altar might be her last. Will Alex and Faye’s throw of the dice succeed or will they lose the lawless game of love?

I want to cry at this moment. I had this review already scheduled to go and I was writing another and the blog somehow mixed them and I ended up with two reviews of the same book and a missing scheduled review. I will attempt to redo this review but I am very sure it will not come out as awesome as it was before.

So this book is about this guy Alex who is the older brother of three and at the moment the head of the family empire. His dad had just died and he wants to take his family on the strait and narrow and get out of the mob. Problem is that his dad made a deal with one of the other mafia families and he has to marry the man's daughter. Or does he?

Enter Faye, a waitress in financial need that works on the casino hotel his family owns. Thanks to an offhanded comment from the family lawyer (at least I think it was offhanded unless it was a veiled suggestion) he decides to get married to Faye and makes her an offer she can't refuse.

From the moment Faye and Alex meet I fell in love with their characters. Faye is a sassy, funny woman that doesn't let Alex walk all over her even when he is the "man in charge". I loved how this characters fell in love and that Alex was always helping Faye one way or another to achieve her dream.

The sexy scenes were hot with the office scene been one of my favorites. I also liked how the author paved the way for the next book and I cannot wait to see how Katya and Matt find a way to be together.

Temping the Beast
by Lora Leigh
Series: Breeds (#1)

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: eBook
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 5 Stars

He’s a genetic experiment. The merging of human and lion DNA his creators call a Breed. And they have no idea just what kind of the creature they brought into being.     Callan Lyons wanted only to be left in peace to protect the small group of Breeds he rescued from a New Mexico lab, but those that created them refuse to stop their continued attempts to re-capture them. And the owner of a small, reputable paper, once a friend of his birth mother’s, now has proof of his existence. Proof that has caught his daughter, Merinus Tyler’s’s fascination and ensured her determination to find him. But once they touch, they’ll become far more than either ever imagined possible.     Man created them, but nature has made them her own. Beginning with Callan, she’ll show the world the folly of playing with the very building blocks of all she protects. And Merinus will learn the folly of tempting the beast…

This novel was recommended by one of my friends who also loves to read. As always I was a bit bored because I did not know what to read. This week was a little busy for me in my work. So I told her that I was looking for something refreshing and did not leave this world. She told me that this series had some 32 books, so I told her to let me start with the first one and then we'll see if I continue with the rest. Hey, I'm not a millionaire to buy many books. The good news is that this book is free for those who have the Kindle Unlimited subscription that I am part of.

I'll leave the link down below for those who are interested in being part of the Kindle Unlimited program. I only pay 9.99 monthly which amounts to 10.84 with taxes but I imagine that this will depend on the area where you are. You have a wide selection of books to choose from and thus do not affect your pocket.

Returning to the book I got off in my kindle and I swear I read it like in 4 hours. Now, you will say how I got 4 hours without children and without a husband because it was my birthday, so that was my gift. Not only I love the story is that it was refreshing. I don't know this series seems a bit like this series by author Laura Dohner called New Species, which I recommend a lot. Well, this series or at least this book I liked a lot. I think that this series was recommended by Mineliz in one of my boredom.

First, we meet Merinus. She is a journalist and the only woman among 7 brothers. Those who have been only daughters with more than two brothers know what the testosterone can do. How about you are overprotected. I remembered my brothers with this story. She is captivated by our hero.

Callan is an experiment - come back to tell you that it looks like Laura's New Species - but I like it because it is a leader and super protects our heroine. Not just me the escape of the installation but could grab and protect some of his people.

Another thing that I like is that they were introducing another story. Which means I have to keep reading the books. They were betrayed by someone close to them, which was a surprise to me. I can not avoid comparing them with Laura's new species, but there are many similarities. I love that this author put this betrayal, other beginnings of other stories and also know they can have babies.

As I said I loved these stories so I'll be a little busy with them, hey they are 32 but I could be wrong and could be more. Definitely will recommend this one. Good job Lora! You will love it as I did.

OMG! I couldn't stop reading this book and sadly for me, it ended to fast. Left me wanting more and more. This story is a perfect naughty story -if you can read between lines- you will understand. It’s about Wren and no one, not two but 3 alphas. But here is the interesting part, dear Ms. Cain you just spin completely the concept about Omega for me. Wren is an Omega! This review has spoilers, now you are warned it’s up to you if you want to continue reading otherwise you can jump right away to the last paragraph for my opinion -Don’t say later I didn't give enough and fair warnings.

Wren was sold to an Alpha by her father and then he rejected her, marking her as defective, and she was cast to Warrens, a wasteland where death and despair exist. She is a scavenger and trades for what she needs for herself and the two boys, Alec and Mikael. But when the boys are missing, she knew she has to go into the tunnels and find them. Wren will sell herself to protect Alec and Mikael, but in the process, she will discover more about herself too, and in spite of it all, she finds pleasure in submission.

What can I say about this book... I freaking loved it. I got it from a website where they offer you the book to give an honest review. Thank God that I subscribed HG ARC (because my crazy friend -just kidding or not- recommended it). Let’s start with the cover, to be honest, I loved it and hated it because I knew this was going to be about a rich jerk and loved it because come on who doesn’t love to read about rich jerks. Those are the best novels.

I started reading the book and I couldn’t put it down. Imagine how I woke up the next day to go work! Let’s say I never went to bed and leave it there. Hey, someone who tells you never to do that it’s because is not a book lover.

Daniel, let’s talk about Daniel! Like I mentioned he's a total jerk, but jerk can’t even get close. He is an idiot. Even though he’s an IDIOT, well I have to say that I’m impressed. The author describes very well the character, and something refreshing about he loves 2 women. He is very loyal. I feel identified with this feeling because if I where in the same position I will sacrifice myself for my loved ones.

I love Vivian! She is a very independent woman, lovely and a fighter. She is my kind of woman. I felt so connected with her character and the author did a very good job describing her feelings because I felt it like they were my own.

You will love this book. I highly recommend it! So ready to read the next one.
